Seaking Marks 20th Anniversary with Wild Alaskan Keta Salmon Line


Such an awe-inspiring event the 20th Anniversary of Seaking was.  I thought I came for the Salmon dishes but ended up getting lessons and life inspiration from the Uy family.  The celebration started with a teary message from Jennifer Uy-Ampon telling stories of how she and her siblings would help their parents with their Bangus-selling business by deboning the fish in the house they grew up with.

Armed with only a small-startup capital, the Seaking brand was literally built by their own hands. Through their hard work, resilience, and determination, Seaking has become an industry leader and a household name.  It was my choice of frozen deboned Bangus brand.

Three-sisters and a brother, kinda looks like my family, plus a 6 month-old baby.  That's keeping my hopes up as my kids don't care a bit about our business.  As I was looking at them on the stage, greeting us guests, I was praying, I wish someday my kids would grow up to be as successful as them, working hand in hand to sustain and manage the family business.  But I hope it wouldn't take 20 years for me to see that.

Makati Shangri-la Hotel was shaken with an assemblage of media, family, friends and business partners as Superb Catch Inc., the company behind trusted seafood brand Seaking celebrated its 20th anniversary last Nov. 8, 2019.  To say it was a blast was an understatement as each guest was up on their feet, all excited to get their names called for the outrageously good prizes for the raffle.

What made Seaking, a king in the industry is how they ensure the highest product standards of their products.

Seaking has continuously adhered to the following principles:

Wild salmon are born in rivers and spend their adult lives in the ocean. They feed on fresh shrimp, crab, and krill. Singaporean Breakfast Culture at Nanyang


A traveler once said that one of the most authentic views of the Singapore as a city is always at a kopitiam (also kopi tiam), an old-school coffee shop that dots almost every neighborhood in the country, serving up cheap breakfasts, coffee and, later in the day, tea and simple meals.

This makes me really excited to plan a trip to SG as I haven't been there yet and dying to do so.  My husband who's quite familiar with SG business ethics also knows a thing or two about their food culture, especially their breakfast or brunch, being an important meal to start a working day.  As early as 8 am, kopi tiams would steadily thicken with morning crowd waiting to be served with coffees, saucers of watery soft-boiled eggs and crisp slices of toast slathered with thick yellow butter and kaya, an eggy coconut jam - which according to his Singaporean colleague as a perfect kopitiam.

More Fun, Food at the 6th Edition of PHL Harvest


Calling all foodies and gastronomes, the Philippine Harvest just got bigger and better!

Now on its 6th edition, the three-day food and agri-trade fair boasts of a wide selection of products and produce that will surely be a delight to the palate. A joint project of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the SSI Group, Inc., the Philippine Harvest features sustainable farm tourism products.

“Conventionally, our cities and provinces become known because of their tourist destinations. But through the Philippine Harvest, we hope to show our travelers that artisanal products, organic produce, and even the farmers who   produced these indigenous products can add prestige to these destinations.  This goes hand in hand with our advocacy   of promoting responsible and sustainable tourism,” enthused DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

Some 50 exhibitors will be featured in this edition with products ranging from assorted vegan desserts, coffee, “taho”, wild forest honey, artisanal cheese, crunchy garlic, meat and fish products and even salted egg, among others.

Locally produced materials such as handbags, health/beauty products and bamboo “utensils will also be available.

"This will be a perfect opportunity to showcase the distinct flavors of the Philippines all in one place for three delectable days. And I hope that this quarterly feature will bring Philippine culinary tourism much closer to our people’s attention," Romulo-Puyat added.

The Philippine Harvest is open to the public free-of-charge from August 30 to September 1, 2019 (Friday to Sunday) from 11 AM to 10 PM at the Central Square in Bonifacio Global City.

Last night, together with many other guests, I have experienced a grand spectacle of treats announced for Resorts World enthusiasts and clients. Considering how fast they have expanded, there's no reqson why we can't get excited.

We took some time to look back in 2009, were we, Filipinos, experienced a new kind of thrill as Resorts World Manila (RWM) introduced the new concept of integrated resorts in the country. This August, RWM marks its first decade milestone in the industry with a grand celebration across all its world-class segments.  It was attended by the top officials of the different hotels that make up RWM community, media and other VIP's were also amongst the crowd.

Instant Pot Monggo Curry


Our family loves curry dishes, in all sorts, may it be Japanese, Filipino style or the strong and pungent Indian type.  That said we also love beans of all sorts, lentils, white and black kidney beans and of course mongo or "munggo" in Filiipino (also mung beans).

I've been meaning to put my Instant Pot to test with cooking mongo beans the easiest way.  My  mother-in-law cooks her mongo in the pressure cooker, setting cooking time half the usual.  Typically, when cooking mongo like any other beans, you have to soak it overnight, then cook it in the pot, before adding to the dish.

Of Recreation and Fete at Sariwon's 7th Anniversary Plus A New Premium Beef Barbecue Menu

One of the best thing that happened to our family last year was a tour around the famous places in Seoul, South Korea.  The highlight of that tour was for all six of us to wear Hanbok, so I did put my husband and eldest son up to the challenge, for they too had donned the traditional Korean clothes which we rented out from one of the stores in Bukchon Village.

Hanbok-wearing is part of the cultural experience when visiting Korea.  It is worn by Koreans during special occasions and holidays.  So I made sure we get that ticked off on our must-try list.  It was a dream come true for me and my three girls to walk along the alleys of Bukchon Village and Gyeongbokgung Palace sporting the colorful clothes, however, what we missed was to dine over Korean BBQ on them.

Instant Pot Baby Back Pork Barbeque


I found a new love affair.  The kinda affair that my husband would approve. HaHaHa.

At first I thought I was going to curse myself for falling into this allowing myself be awed and astounded. To be honest, I was afraid to try it but I gave in. And even though many told me that it's gonna cost me, I didn't listen to them.

So, YES, I wasn't sorry that I tried it and I can't wait for our next engagement.

Okay, Okay, I'm not into some sort of adulterous affair, I'm writing about how I feel with the first time I used my Instant Pot DUO60 6 Qt.

I've had it for a long time, but I was sure scared I might not be able to understand how to use it, coz well, it's nifty high-tech.  It's not like your typical rice cooker with just one button to push.  Instant Pot DUO60 6 Qt is a 7-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Maker and Warmer, built in with digital buttons up front for the different cooking features.


Why wouldn't I fall in love with it, can you see how beautifully it sits on my kitchen counter top?

 I've seen the raves over Instant Pot® in the US and many home-cooks would attest to it's usefulness and practicality.  Imagine having a smart pressure cooker, a cooker where you can make porridge, cakes and even yogurt.

For my first dish cooked in my new thyngamajig therefore is something I hardly cook as it would take me two to three hours to slow cook- bbq baby back ribs.

Before we came to know how serious my pregnancy is, my husband and I, together with our bunso (for the moment) went to Trece Martires to send one of my father's boxes to be kept at a house we are currently renting.  To make our long drive worthwhile after ticking off an errand, I looked for a unique place to dine with.  However, we couldn't find a good one in Trece without going inside SM Mall.

I decided to try out Amadeo, said to be the coffee capital of the country and luckily Google was able to direct me to an Airbnb place with a full-service restaurant.

Something revolutionary is going to make our kitchen duties all the more exciting.  This was how the Knorr Test Kitchen invitation made an appeal to me when I was invited to the event.  I don't really know what to expect, but I knew this is going to be worth my time and effort in inviting others as well to partake in the eventful afternoon that was.

Exciting as it was, the Test Knorr Kitchen, which happened at Greenbelt 2 last March 30, had been fete for foodies alike.

Conti's Delightfully New All Day Breakfast Must-haves


In the foodie community, one piece of wisdom remains constant- Having a meal after waking up might be the single most important food decision of your day.  Morning meals does not only fuel your body it also supplies the necessary nutrients needed for a productive day ahead.  Countless studies attest that people who eat breakfast are more likely to meet their overall nutritional needs for the day, than those who opt not to.

This thought made stronger when Conti's first launched their four new all-day breakfast dishes at their Greenbelt 2 branch.  When breakfast meals were that important and were made delectable that you are comforted (through the food and the ambiance), what better way to indulge in them than to have them any time of the day.  Breakfast for lunch, breakfast for dinner, well in this case, I'd also have it for meryenda, especially their Croque Madame!

An Overture to our Babymooning at Savoy Hotel Manila


I knew timing is everything in the world of parenting and family-building.  But as a mom, I always fail in that department.  I've been blessed with kids even without asking for them, but I never regretted anything, in fact, if I were to choose a life, I'd still choose the kind I have.  And No, my life isn't perfect, nor have I been living in luxury but God was so graceful to bless our family comfortably and I couldn't be more grateful.

That was why, on my birthday, when my husband asked me what I want on my 43rd birthday, I thought to just freeze that day and let me live that age a bit longer, cause time have caught up with us and we aren't getting any younger, nor our kids are.

So he asked, and I answered,"I want to have a maternity boudoir photograph session."

I can't find any reasons why women don't want to have themselves glammed up or even consider having their photos taken professionally.  If you are hesitant because of fear of judgement, or self-doubt, don't.

If I were to talk to my 20 or even 30 year old me, I could have advised to do a sexy shoot or a "boost-your-confidence photo session" and the one that Seriously Boudoir offers is the best of its kind.  But you know, I was so surprised to find myself projecting to every click of Joy's camera.  I actually found it fun, a bit tiring for a preggy mom at her 40's, but fun.

Quaker Oats Made our Family's Breakfast Even Super



When asked, as a foodie (or food blogger), what my favorite breakfast dish is, I would  say, there are two -  eggs and oats. These two were the dishes that pulled me through my college years, when hot meals prepared quickly in the morning were essential. And when I eventually had a family of my own to manage, the two have always been present in our daily breakfast.  A staple breakfast for us would be cooked oatmeal (sometimes chocolate oatmeal porridge) and fried rice with eggs plus dried fish or beef tapa.
