Casa de Amor, An Off the Beaten Path Boho-styled Resto

Before we came to know how serious my pregnancy is, my husband and I, together with our bunso (for the moment) went to Trece Martires to send one of my father's boxes to be kept at a house we are currently renting.  To make our long drive worthwhile after ticking off an errand, I looked for a unique place to dine with.  However, we couldn't find a good one in Trece without going inside SM Mall.

I decided to try out Amadeo, said to be the coffee capital of the country and luckily Google was able to direct me to an Airbnb place with a full-service restaurant.

Conti's Delightfully New All Day Breakfast Must-haves

In the foodie community, one piece of wisdom remains constant- Having a meal after waking up might be the single most important food decision of your day.  Morning meals does not only fuel your body it also supplies the necessary nutrients needed for a productive day ahead.  Countless studies attest that people who eat breakfast are more likely to meet their overall nutritional needs for the day, than those who opt not to.

This thought made stronger when Conti's first launched their four new all-day breakfast dishes at their Greenbelt 2 branch.  When breakfast meals were that important and were made delectable that you are comforted (through the food and the ambiance), what better way to indulge in them than to have them any time of the day.  Breakfast for lunch, breakfast for dinner, well in this case, I'd also have it for meryenda, especially their Croque Madame!

At Casa Simeon, Albay: Where Heirloom Dishes and Good Sleep Awaits

Just last year, I had a wonderful experience at Albay.  It wasn't my first time to tour Albay, as our family had a memorable one around Legazpi and the neighboring towns of Albay, back in 2012.

Read about our Albay joint here.

Also, I was one of the media representative to cover the 2016 Palarong Pambansa as hosted and initiated by the Department of Education.

I've seen throughout the moving of years how the province of Albay developed, especially it's capital, Legazpi City.  I have also witnessed how the nation raved about their Bicolano cuisine and found Albay to be a foodie destination.  No wonder why everyone have been going there and having an awesome experience as well.

Lydia's Lechon Rolls Out Soon-to-be Family Fave Dishes

I could  still remember how the brown crystal-like skin of  pig crackled when hit by a butcher knife.  Would I fear either the browned pig with steam coming out of  the meat or the huge ugly guy murdering the pig?  That was my first encounter with lechon, and I still could remember how we strolled on the gutter of some streets in Baclaran with people offering us this piece of meat to try with an odd head of a brown pig with an apple crunched in its mouth.  But this I couldn't also forget, how we ended up in a karinderia with lechon paraded on the side of this joint.  I still don't know how to read properly at that time, but the place stuck in my memory bank forever, as it was my first time to eat a lechon.

Goto Believe, Stepping Up the Lugaw Game

I first knew about Goto Believe when I watched Pop Talk a couple of months ago.  After seeing how they managed to put more fun in their typical Goto, I asked my foodie partner slash IG husband to look for it and try them.  Goto, as comparable to Lugaw and Arroz Caldo, is a rice porridge (also known as congee) cooked with ox tripe.  It has that distinguishing meaty taste with a hint of beefy and garlicky flavor and may tend to be heavy on cholesterol, so, there, I warned you.

Why I've Decided to Count on Pamora 100 % Free-Range Over Commercial Ones

Our family's love for chicken is divine and profound that we don’t usually tolerate anything that comes in the way of our greatest guilty pleasure. Haha!  That said, I've been meaning to change to a healthier lifestyle hence I joined Green Peace' #LessIsMore campaign and sure enough, I can gladly throw off pork and beef eating.   But with chicken, it's a whole lot different story.  Come to think of it, if you check my disorganized   RECIPE PAGE, the savory recipes are composed mostly of chicken as main ingredient.

Makan Ken Mainum at the Bambanti Festival 2018

Translated as food and drinks, Makan ken Mainum, are Ilocano words every foodie who wants to explore the culinary of Isabela should know. Moreover, it is the banner of the recently concluded Isabela’s Master Kusinero Cooking Contest which was one of the highly-anticipated activities in the Bambanti Festival 2018.

This event is a show off of different culinary ingenuities coupled with the tradition of city and town representatives of Isabela.  Of course, Ilocano cooking in the highest degree of respect is the major factor for this cooking battle.

Cocktails and Filipino-Inspired Tapas All-You-Can at Romulo Cafe

Known for its popular main courses, such as Lola Virginia’s Chicken Relleno, Adobo Romulo Style, and Tito Greg’s Kare-Kare, Romulo Café now introduces a surprising lineup of cocktails and Filipino-style tapas.

“Tapas are considered strictly Spanish; associated only with Spanish food,” says Sandie Romulo Squillantini, owner of Romulo Café and granddaughter of Carlos P. Romulo. “We wanted to tweak that idea because Filipino finger foods also go nicely with wine, Cava and other drinks. Basically, we’ve taken the tried and tested a combination of beer and pulutan, and we’ve made it a little friendlier to an international clientele.”

Cha Cha's Beach Cafe, A Different Kind of Food Vibe in Boracay

Boracay Island had always been a dreamy escape, and I'm sure many would attest to that.  Without a doubt, beachcombers take Boracay as a place of many interests, including food escapades.

For sure, nothing competes for a beach vibe without having the famous mango shake, or the infamous calamansi muffin and a copious serving of seafood, of course.

Pay Less Eat More, Even Luxuriously at Raintree Restaurants

Many would argue that food shouldn't be a luxury especially when you're a Foodie.  That "effin" F-word really gets you ha!  Being a foodie, food categorizing should not bother you at all, whether it's gourmet, a street food, fancy or just plain, traditional, food is food, and you can always get on the bandwagon of trying out trending food.  And you just don't care of being judged.

Arca's Yard for our First Stop-over in Baguio

I'll just be photo dumping snapshots from our recent food partakings at Arca's Yard, a cafe and a museum with a mini library.

It's a famous hang-out of weekenders needing to find solace from well, the busy life.  It was for it's impeccable dining-on-the-floor-with-a-view.  When you enter the compound an al fresco dining area will welcome you and on your left would be the door to the main building.

There are plenty of Instagram-worthy nooks to get cozy with, or dine with a group.

Father's Day Hoopla + Filipino Cuisine at Providore

I think, I did mention in one of my post that Providore is officially our family's favorite comfort food fix place!  With that said, it wasn't hard for me to pick a place on where to eat lunch on a Sunday.  But it's not just an ordinary Sunday, as it was a day to honor my husband (and other fathers), as
the world have observed Father's Day.

20 Years of Serving the Best Seafood by MIDA Food

When selecting either fresh or frozen seafood, there are several things to consider and one of it is to always look for the label.

For instance, some refrigerated seafood may have time/temperature indicators on their packaging, which show if the product has been stored at the proper temperature.  Always check the indicators when they are present and only buy the seafood if the indicator shows that the product is safe to eat.

UNO's Modern Filipino Taste: A Filipino Feast for All Senses

Words and photos by Dems Angeles of Dangmusings (Demsangeles.com)

The Filipino cuisine is celebrated in the Queen City of the South through a two-month special culinary fest!

Everytime I hear Chefs Roland “Lau” and Jackie Laudico's name, I know that at the heart of every venture they do is their passion for Filipino food and cooking culture. Their latest collaboration, with the Waterfront Group of Hotel's UNO in Mactan and Lahug, is a festival of flavors.

“UNO's Modern Filipino Taste: A Filipino Feast for All Senses” showcases the Laudico's reinvention of well-loved Filipino and Cebuano dishes.

Why Your Kids Need to Try Blue Post Boiling Crabs and Shrimps?

I've been loving my regular visits to SM Mall of Asia lately as many new restos have opened up and one of them is Blue Post Boiling Crabs and Shrimps. This is actually the second branch in Manila and it originated from Davao.  I love Davao and just a year ago my family and I found ourselves wound up in it's beauty.

We did try a couple of restaurants but we were more in the country side so we missed a lot on that area.  Believe me, you, Davao is a haven for foodies and one of it's pride is Blue Post.  But sadly, we weren't able to try it there.

Golden Cowrie Finally Arrived at S Maison

Cebuanos and foodies who have basked in the Cebu culinary explosion will attest to the fame of Golden Cowrie.  Back in 2015, when my family and I was finally able to visit Cebu, and had a taste of their vibrant culinary scene, Golden Cowrie is that one resto we missed trying out.  It was the only regret I had after coming home from a three-day vacation, spent at Bluewater Maribago and Crimson Resort and Spa.  Since then, I've been meaning to go back together with my hankering for Cebu lechons.

Recipe: No-Fail Classic Holiday Dessert Recipes from Jolly Cow Condensada

Growing up, Christmas had always been the most anticipated feast.  I always, always patiently seat near my mom in the kitchen as she prepares different kinds of salads and her winning recipe is a salad for dessert. Ironic?  Well for us Pinoys it isn't, as we would enjoy loads of Fruit Salad during this season.
