A Summer Lovin' at Burot Beach

If you would dream of a perfect summer day somewhere, where and how would it be?
Here is mine, oh and let these pictures tell the story.
Perfectly painted azure sky with billowy white clouds.

A splatter of greens here and there.   Beckoning white clean sand.   A paradise hidden, you could stay naked lying on the sand.

A wide variety of shells and crawling creatures on the sand.   You would get dizzy picking them off.

Crystal clear water that's shallow enough and safe from sharp rocks on the water bed, for a care-free playtime with the kids.
Even climbing a tree would not be hassle, and limitless opportunities for finding a perfect beach shot.
If a day at the beach, is not enough, the town of Calatagan, Batangas has a lot of exciting adventures that awaits you.

Burot Beach, Calatagan, Batangas
Under-developed paradise.   Going there is an adventure with some unforseen travel circumstances that might get you thinking when deciding to traverse the remote edge of  Calatagan.   But locals are very friendly and Burot Beach is very famous amongst town folks.   So don't be shy asking them where to go to find it.  From the town proper of Calatagan, its only 15 minutes to reach the place.  A good place for camping.   Bring lots of food but don't leave your mess  behind please!!!

No need to worry if you are bringing your own vehicle because the whole place is so spacious that you can even park your car beside the nipa hut of your choice and most of all parking is free. Cottages and rooms are not available in the area so if you are planning to have an overnight stay make sure you have your tents with you otherwise you can rent some tents for 300 pesos.  Moreover, there is no electricity in Burot beach but there are available bonfire woods (200  pesos per bundle) that you can use to be your light the whole night.  Two public toilets and two showers are available in the area but with slow flowing faucet. Since Burot beach is now discovered by many, I do hope that management can add more toilet facilities for visitor’s convenience. Also be ready if some fishermen will offer you an island hopping to the nearest sand bar for 120 pesos per head. I'm sure you enjoyed the view and the clear water.

The cheapest summer dream a family or a pack of friends can go to.   Did I mention it only costs P60 per adult on a beach escapade like that, an additional P200 would get you a "Survivor-type hut" with tables and stools.   Yes!  For real!  Yes, the pack has had it again.

ENTRANCE: DAY TOUR - 65php
        OVERNIGHT- 130php
RENTAL:      tent - 400php good for 2 pax
                  table -   200php
           nipa huts - 300php, 500php, 600php and 800php
        bonfire 250 - 250php
ISLAND HOPPING - 120php per head

Here are ways to get there through commuting:

By Van - There are vans available going to Calatagan near the KABAYAN HOTEL MRT Taft Station. Fare is Php180.00/pax. Travel time is approximately 3 to 4 hours. At Calatagan Market, hire a tricycle for Php200.00 or Php50.00 per person.

By Bus - Bus Terminal is located AT COASTAL MALL the grand terminal. Fare is Php160.00. Travel time is approximately 3 to 4 hours. Calatagan-bound buses are available daily, first trip is 4:00 AM. Ask the conductor to drop you off at Calatagan Market. At Calatagan Market, hire a tricycle for Php200.00 minimum fare or Php50.00 per person.
Note: Tricycle ride will be around 20 minutes only.

by Private Vehicle

1. From Manila, take Coastal Road or SLEX (South Luzon Express Way). Drive all the way to Nasugbu, Batangas until you reach a junction or rotonda. At the junction, take the right turn going to Lian; a Caltex Gasoline Station will serve as your landmark.

2. Drive straight ahead. After passing the CADP (Central Azucarera Don Pedro) Sugar Refinery, take a left at the intersection (Landmarks: Shell and I-Gas Gasoline Stations).

3. Drive straight ahead. Once you see Sto. Domingo Church, turn right.

4. You'll pass through a small public market (Talipapa), then a cemetery. From there, you'll see signs going to Burot Beach. :)

Note: I will not give any more directions from here, because getting lost and asking locals where

Burot Beach was previously called as the Elizalde Beach (owned by the Elizaldes, an affluent family in the Philippines), but was recently bought by SM. Now, Burot Beach is a private property of SM Group of Companies; good news, it is still open for the public until further notice. So, if you're planning to visit Burot, make it soon!

    1. Hi Carmen,
Okay First things first, as I've mentioned, it's as simple as could be, underdeveloped. No store, or cafe or anything like that inside. The place is now actually under Henry Sy's management and will soon be developed.
You can ride a bus from EDSA, take the route going to Calatagan, it would probably stop at the station near the town market, we passed by it going home. There are lots of tricycle cabs at the bus station that will take you there and ask the same driver to fetch you at the end of the day, because it may be a long walk to the town proper.
Sorry about not putting too much details. And thank you for the comment, I don't mind anybody asking? It was a pleasure helping anybody.

  3. Yes, pwede naman, we acually had an SUV, but be careful, make sure there is no storm or rain on the day of your visit, kasi you will be passing on a narrow road where sea water will be on both sides of the road. There is a big steel gate with a security guard about half a kilometer away from the beach itself so ask him anything.

    1. Is it really scary on that narrow road? I'll be driving there this Friday. I'll just be bringing a car. You mean you can actually fall off that road, straight into the sea?

    2. Hi Pepper!
I can not really tell now, when we went there it was low tide, and they are partly trying to construct the path leading to the beach. It was a bit scary for me, because our car is wide and big (Honda Odyssey)there would be a possibility of falling off. Make sure you have someone with you to check on the path while you drive. Please be extra careful! Think of it as a challenge and adventure! Enjoy!
