20 Reasons Why I Love Langnese Honey

Again and again, I wax lyrical about how important honey is in our house, that being said in my family's health particularly.

Even before I wasn't so fuzzy about eating healthy, I knew about honey's life-giving properties.  It has been seen in the Bible a number of times and had been likened to gracious words, God's divine words, promised lands, and even forbidden women.
One of my favorite verse in the Bible is from Proverbs 24:13:
"My son, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste."
In our house, I make sure we get a regular supply of it, not only because it has really good benefits but it is my number one go-to remedy when my daughter gets hypoglycemic, that's when her blood sugar drops seriously bad.  A glass of water mixed with 1 to 2 tablespoons of true honey is enough to give her body targeted energy level and stabilizes her blood sugar.

Aside from that, I have listed below several reasons why I love honey,  But wait, I also need to warn you about honey and how important it is to know the real one, the raw, unprocessed and that's really medicinal and not detrimental, coz' believe me, there are many of them in the groceries.

Thanks to Fly Ace Corp., they were able to bring Germany's most loved honey, Langnese.  It was launched at Marriott Grand Ballroom just this January and I was able to add more info on my long list of honey info.

The event was hosted by Patty Laurel.

But before the very informative speeches given by the key speakers, the media were treated to a breakfast honeyed with Langnese.

So I thought I already know my honey!

Langnese Honey is a family-owned brand for nine decades, it is also a reputable market leader with a seal of approval from Germany’s Honey Ordinance and European Standard Basic Principles that strictly requires the safest and unadulterated quality.

Thus, my reasons why from now on, I will just be buying Langnese Honey.

1. It's unadulterated!

Adulteration is when something is added to 100 % raw honey or when an unnatural process is done to the honey for the purpose of marketing it in cheaper prices.  Adulteration with cheaper sugars brings down the natural value of the honey.

Adulterated honey is not pure, and can sometimes be considered as "fake honey,"

Unknowingly, most of us succumb to buying these kind of honeys that are out in the market, claiming they are pure and locally sourced.

This made me think about the honey products I have bought, but since, I"m buying organic ones from artisan sources,  hope I'm covered.

2. Diabetic-friendly!

With all-smiles my diabetic daughter can say "Yes!"

In the said launch of Langnese, Nutritionist Chesire Que, mentioned about honey helping out in the digestive process and helping produce insulin.  Fructose and glucose, the main carbohydrates in honey, have the same molecular formula but different structural formula.

Studies have shown that fructose reduces hyperglycemia or glucose levels in rodent models of diabetes, healthy subjects and diabetic patients 32-35. Evidence suggests that fructose consumption prolongs gastric emptying 36, which may slow down the rate of intestinal absorption 37. In addition to fructose, oligosaccharides such as palatinose (isomaltulose) present in honey have been reported to delay digestion and intestinal absorption of glucose resulting in reduced glycemia.  (Credit to this article.)

So yes, pure honey is definitely safe for any kinds of diabetic patients.

3. Highest quality and purity since 1927.

Langnese is raw, unfiltered, and residue-free, with a limit of between 16% – 21% water content only. With Langnese Honey, it doesn’t only surpass these requirements, its name is a seal of guarantee that nothing is added nor removed from it.

4. It has Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is from Apis melliflera (honeybees). As the honeybees gather nectar, the pollen in the flowers gets stuck to their hairy legs.

This plant pollen is then transported back to the hives by the bees. In the bee hive, beekeepers set traps at the bottom to catch the pollen as it drops off from the legs of the bees.

This pollen is then gathered in trays and taken away to make bee pollen after cleaning out debris. Bee pollen is available as capsules, tablets, raw granules and jelly.

It can contain around 100 vitamins, enzymes, minerals and amino acids.

Among the vitamins, bee pollen contains all the B vitamins except B-12, vitamins C, D, E, F, and K, folic acid and choline.

Some of the minerals found in bee pollen include iron, copper, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, sodium, zinc, chlorine, sulfur, selenium, titanium, boron and silica.

There are around 22 amino acids, 25 minerals, 18 vitamins, 11 co-enzymes and enzymes, 11 carbohydrates, 25% protein, 14 fatty acids and 59 trace elements present in bee pollen.

5. My Secret Anti-oxidant and Anti-aging Agent

Honey is excellent for skin as it is skin-food.

Raw honey is amazing for the skin due to its antibacterial and anti-aging abilities. It also acts as a natural cleanser and skin lubricant, and aids in moisturizing the skin
.
It helps skin turnover by removing dead skin cells and promoting new cell growth. Also, fights specific types of bacteria that lead to acne and pimples.

Again, the key to obtaining the most benefits from honey as a beauty aid is to purchase 100-percent organic raw honey.

Next time, I'll be making a face mask out of it.

6.  Honey water can fight Anemia

Honey is very good for the entire body. It contains a good amount of iron. You will get about 0.42 mg of iron in 100 grams of honey. Moreover, honey also contains copper and magnesium that will help in increasing the hemoglobin in your body.

Everyday, I add one tablespoon of honey to a glass of fresh lemon juice or water, early in the morning on an empty stomach, as  this is said to fight anemia effectively.

7. No short cuts and no compromise.

Ever wondered what makes Langnese Honey truly satisfying? Its serious commitment to quality and purity puts a premium importance on selection and processing, market analysis, coupled with direct and long-standing relationship with the beekeepers in the countries of origin. Much more, it also boasts a plethora of certifications from International Featured Standards (IFS) Kosher, and Halal that are true marks of its reliable source.

8.  Pro-biotic

Honey contains pro-biotics that help support the growth and activity of good bacteria in our gut, making it very efficient for digestion. Since it doesn’t ferment in the stomach, it’s easily absorbed and be used to treat indigestion.

Having a good gut is essential in keeping a happy life.

9. Chic and convenient.

Featuring a honey dispenser technology famously known as “Bee Easy”, this chic and convenient packaging is also guaranteed no drip and no stickiness in every serving. Available in 250 g and 500 g PET dispensers, it’s also well loved by kids who find fun and enjoyment with their food.

10. Great for Breakfast

We all know too well that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why set it on a right pace by drizzling honey on your pancakes, waffles or toast, or adding it to your yogurt, milk or coffee, instead of using table sugar and some syrups

11. Tastes better than sugar and has 5 Flavors

Acacia is the ultimate breakfast companion that lends character to teas, cereals, and desserts.

Golden Clear on the other hand, offers a sweet antidote to dips, salads, cocktails, and hot drinks, or to just about anything.

Meanwhile, cooks and foodies can never go wrong with Black Forest that’s surely a luscious ingredient from the straightforward to the flashy recipes.

While Wild Flower is pretty much suited for sweetening all types of food and beverage, it makes breads and pastries tastier and way healthier instead of refined sugar.

Last but not the least, Lavender is also lovely for sweetening all types of beverages like tea and is a luscious spread on breads.

12. A Versatile Ingredient in Cooking

On the said event, Chef Meik Brammer, a German who works for Marriott talked about how he used the different flavors of Langnese in the dishes he prepared for us attendees.

Chef Meik, who happens to be German, were able to come up with these sumptuous dishes spiked with the different varieties of Lamgnese Honey.

Though it may hard to choose which flavor of honey to use in cooking as it will highly affect its taste and color.

The safest to use for baking cookies or pastries is the lighter ones such as the Golden Clear variety.

You can also use the darker ones with soy sauce or other dark sauces as marinates, to flavor and thicken sauces and to give it a bit of sweetness, like in Humba or Asado.

I have actually replaced brown sugar in my BBQ marinade and have glazed chicken meats with a mix of dark sauces (soy sauce and Worcestershire) and honey.

13. The best sugar and sweetener alternative

Unlike honey, table sugar lacks minerals and vitamins (hence it's been often called empty calories), they draw upon the body's nutrients to be metabolized into the system. When these nutrients are all used up, metabolizing of undesirable cholesterol and fatty acid is impeded, contributing to higher cholesterol and promoting obesity due to higher fatty acid on the organs and tissues. That is why it is not uncommon for fat people to suffer from malnutrition and many other health related problems.

It is our number one health enemy, as Cancer cells love sugar! That is why refined carbohydrates like white sugar, white flour, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and soft drinks are extremely dangerous for anyone trying to prevent or reverse cancer. Sugar essentially feeds tumors and encourages cancer growth.

In healthy subjects or patients with impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes mellitus, various studies revealed that honey reduced blood glucose or was more tolerable than most common sugars or sweeteners.

14. Best for baking

Here's a knocker! I was able to prove that instead of white sugar, you can use honey.  It actually worked well with chocolate flavor as it did to my brownies.

Since honey is sweeter than sugar, use less.  For 1 cup of white sugar I used 1/3 cup of Acacia honey.

Stay tuned for the recipe.

15. Makes smoothies yummier

16. First aid treatment for sick dogs

Whenever our dogs get sick, we would knew right away, coz the first sign would be loss of appetite. When that happens, we know what give them (we have three lassa apso, btw)- honey mixed in water.

It never failed us, thus, I can say and backed by vets that indeed honey is also kind to these fur babies, or for some most trusted best buds and guard dogs.

17.  Memory-Booster

Honey’s ability to help the body absorb calcium helps aid brain health. The brain needs calcium in order to process thought and make decisions. With our population continue to get older and older, the likelihood of dementia setting in because of poor intake of vitamins and minerals continues to get higher and higher,

Gosh, I need this.

18. Medicinal Benefits
Soothes and heals wounds for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties,

If you're suffering from a cold or something going on in the throat or upper airways, getting on           board with honey syrup will help fight infection and soothe membranes,

Helps prevent cancer and heart disease.

Reduces ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders.

19. It Doesn't Spoil

20. Boosts Happiness and Fight Depression

Honey counters the low feelings of depression because of natural sugars contained in it. These sugars provide instant energy and stimulation to the brain and body thus shaking off this aspect of depression.

Honey has the quality to clear and calm frayed nerves. Honey taken along with herbal tea, coffee, warm milk or warm water provides instant relief to depression. In water, honey works as a stabilizer as it calms the high moods and lifts up the low moods. The ideal ratio for honey in water is 1:4. Alternatively, one can have one spoonful of honey in one cup of tea.

Honey is packed with beneficial compounds like quercetin and kaempferol that reduce inflammation, keeping your brain healthy and warding off depression. Added to a glass of warm milk before sleeping, it can actually lull you better to sleep, as honey helps your body release melatonin into the brain, which promotes a deeper, more restorative sleep.
