The truly remarkable thing that's happening with donuts in Manila is that this simple idea is being stretched, tweaked, improved, and upscaled - but it's being done without pretension and with that glorious sense of pure, happy contentment intact.   Yes, that's how we feel about having the different variations of J. CO.

 Instead of the usual large buko pies, Rowena’s offers 3-inch mini-tarts that are perfect for solo snackers. Coming from the far north is Bella's Calasiao puto, here puto or rice cakes are being sold by kilogram.    A kilo pack of  one-flavoured  or assorted is only P 100.00.

 Maybe you can see why, apart from being one of the sought-after pasalubong in Pangasinan, particualry found only at Calasiao, Dagupan, it has more than five flavors.  When mixed together  in resemble a rainbow of colors, eye-candy, yet still excitingly different from each one.  My favorite is the mango and pandan.
