Our Family's Concise List of Beach Road Trips and other Summer Hide-away

Taken five ears ago with m kids at La Luz Beach, San Juan, Batangas
A fraction of my entire life is spent in the kitchen, cooking, baking and washing the dishes.  It's a love-hate relationship between me and those daily chores.  My husband would always hear me complaining about my back and shoulders, from all the household chores I have to do everyday.  My life was like that ever since I got married.  In fact, it even came to a point when I thought that life isn't supposed to be like this, just because, I could not afford to have the things that I like or be the person that I dreamed of when I was little.  To sum it up, I forgot about how I looked, how the husband sees me and how I'm not getting the best that this life could offer.  I missed on a lot of things, BIG TIME!

Okay, well this blog isn't supposed to be an angst-ridden life, well there is still a fraction left for me to enjoy life just not yet at its finest, only the brink (*wink, wink), alone, with friends, and with m family.  So, I troubled myself to collate some of our family escapades to partly feed our fetish for adventure and escape the daily grind.  There are a lot (I mean tons and tons) of beach in every theme and nature which you can either drive to or with bus rides.

Here is a list of the places to explore with your family, to get further details, do click on the link provided.

Beach Guides

1.  Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar

Address: Barangay Pag-asa, Bagac, Bataan, Philippines

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is in Bataan, which is one of the Philippines’ most historic provinces. It is located 20 km from Mt. Samat Shrine and 2 km from the Japanese Friendship Tower in Bagac. To get to the resort, you may travel by land or air.

Bataan is accessible via the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX). There are buses that travel directly to Balanga Town Proper, about 125 km northwest of Manila. From Olongapo City, you may take the Victory Liner buses.

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar also offers walking tours around Bataan’s most popular landmarks:

  • Death March Marker
  • Historical Walk – “Dambana ng Kagitingan” (Shine of Valor), Filipino-Japanese Friendship Marker, St. Catherine of Alexandria Church (one of the oldest churches in Bataan), Surrender Site Marker, 18th Century St. Joseph Cathedral, Fall of Bataan Marker
  • Nature Trip – Pawikan Center (the country’s nesting center of sea turtle species), La Puerta al Paraiso (Yasa Beach, famous for cliff diving and nature walks)

2. Morong, Bataan

It would take you an approximate of 170 KM  drive from Pasay to Morong and that would be about 3 to 4 hours without  traffic congestion.   There are more than one route to take reaching Morong beaches.

One is taking SCTex/ SBMA Morong Gate, another is via Bagac junction.  We took the  TIPO highway junction to SBMA / SBMA Morong Gate route.   From Balintawak Cloverleaf, go 75.5 kms towards NLEX Mabalacat Exit,  from Dau exit take SCtex NLEX Tollgate, passing by  SBMA Beach Junction then Morong Gate junction  which will lead you to Anvaya Beach's gate, go down further reaching the sleepy town of  Morong  take the left street at the historic  antiquated  Morong Church and choose your resort...

3. Camaya Beach Resort

Sitio Wain, Mariveles, Bataan

A convenient traffic free 3 to 3 1/2 hours drive from Manila via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the newly opened Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

Manila – NLEX – SCTEX (Dinalupihan Exit – Roman Highway – Mariveles (2 hour & 30 minutes)
San Fernando Pampanga – OG Road – Roman Highway – Mariveles (1 hour & 30 minutes)
Clark – SCTEX – (Dinalupihan Exit) – Roman Highway – Mariveles (1 hour & 20 minutes)
Subic – SCTEX (Dinalupihan Exit) - Roman Highway – Mariveles (1 hour & 10 minutes)

The place is stunningly beautiful.  I've yet to blog about this.  Let me know if you want to book a visit so I can personally endorse you to the personnel who handles the day tour.

4.  La Luz Beach Resort

More raw photos here.

Nothing beats having a private vehicle as long as you are not driving but well, not everyone has a car. With this little guide, even commuters can enjoy the resort’s amenities.

First go to Alps Station Cubao near Nepa Q mart. The earliest trip is at 4am and the latest is about 4:30pm. They make about 12 trips to San Juan so I guess a bus leaves the station every hour. One-way fare to San Juan Batangas is P 188. Get off at Alps San Juan Station. The a jeepney ride to Brgy. Hugom. Though the jeep will only leave if it's already full.  It only costs 40 pesos per person. Ask the Jeepney driver to drop you off at La luz and ask for directions. It’s a short walk.

We were here twice some five years ago, so probably so much had changed, I would suggest you visit their website to inquire about their accommodation packages.

BurotBeach is located in Calatagan, a small municipality in Batangas. It is  3-4 hours travel from Metro Manila. You can get there in either public or  private transportation.

How to Go to Burot Beach Using a Private Car?

From Manila go south passing Tagaytay and taking the Nasugbu Road.
Upon arriving at the Nasugbu-Lian intersection, take the Lian route and go straight. After the town Lian, you will reach Calatagan Municipality. From there, the best thing to do is ask the locals about directions that  lead to Burot Beach. You will pass a cemetery until you reach a gate.

You will enter two gates with guards covered in SM uniforms. You will know  that you have already entered a private property. Do not worry, it's  still open to the public, unless stated otherwise by the owner.

Alaminos City, Pangasinan

Deets on where to eat, sleep and what to do is on the link above...

Getting to Hundred Islands National Park (from Metro Manila)

1. Take a bus bound for Alaminos via Victory Liner in Cubao. I repeat, Cubao and not Kamias. Fare is P392 for AC bus. We took the 530am bus.

Buses that go via NLEX and SCTEX are faster than buses that don’t pass by SCTEX. So take the 2-expressway buses if you can. There are normally two stops: Dau (if you are in Pampanga  and Bulacan area, you can board here if you’re lucky and there’s still seats) and Tarlac City (if you are in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija area, same thing applies)

If you are a student, bring your ID to avail of the 20% discount. Non-aircon buses are also cheaper. So choose that or AC bus, depending on your comfort or tolerance level.

Take a tricycle to Lucap Wharf where the Hundred Islands National Park Tourism Office is located. You need to pay for your environmental fee (P80 for adult, P40 for children). It’s also here where you can rent a boat and arrange for cooking equipment and utensils (P1000) if you don’t have them.

Rates are as follows from Asenso Pangasinan site:
