This is not another sad nor bitter post...this, in fact, is another discovery from us, from our visit in
To date, this is my fourth restaurant try out in the said place but first in Lilac St. Lilac St. if you might have known is the foodie haven of Marikina, which is likened to Maginhawa, Kapitolyo in Pasig and BF Homes, Paranaque.
Oh, I think I already did try one, except it's located at the corner of Lilac and Kanlaon Streets.
This cafe my husband and I chanced upon driving along Lilac said to have moved to a better and bigger venue. From the street, it seemed to be very inviting, looked really dainty and classy without being too intimidating.
It has that homey character and they have been pushing for their all-day menu and have boasted about their yummy kitchen creations seen on their posters outside.
Though we were there for coffee after being stressed out facing Marikina Municipal Civil Registry staff, we thought this place is perfect to settle ourselves down and unwind with "hopefully" good cups of coffee and some affordable grubs.
The place was pretty packed when we entered but we were able to find our seat near the door. I was hoping to get seated at the light blue quilted chairs but they only have in two of their tables and they were being occupied.
The observant me could easily judge the place to be hangouts of not just students but of millennials as well, however, you will notice that their clients were diverse as families with kids can also be spotted enjoying their meals.
As seen outside.
You can tell they are serious about their coffees.
Our coffeenating turned out to be a heavy snack after all, albeit being cheap...
His' and her's coffee choice: Cappuccino for the hubs and brewed coffee for the wifey (hmmm, I could never like that term).
Coffee were a bit pricey but they were good!
With Bhogs cup of Joe was a plate of Forget Me Not Burger (P 245) Well, I did the picking of food but he quite loved what he had. The burger was big and really heavy with a hefty serving of really savory and juicy burger patty. The burger was grilled to perfection, but you can ask for its doneness. Making the burger healthy and adding crunch and more textures are the fresh lettuce and tomatoes. I ordered the burger with cheese in it, and the hand-cut fries made the plate more packed with flavors. Of course, I needed to have a bite, and it was really good specially the dressing that went with it.
Mine was the meaty favorite, Roastbeef Sandwich. (P 215). If you're a burger-lover, you might want to ease up on burgers and try this instead. You'll never regret it.
The grilled beef steak that was sliced to the bite were drenched in a flavorful mushroom sauce and topped with green and red bell peppers and caramelized onions. The sandwich is served with cool greens salad and hand-cut fries.
As I have mentioned they do have plated meals for breakfast and large quantity meals served for a group, such as pasta dishes, sandwiches and entrees.
Dessert was ok, I chose this Nutella Cheesecake which however lacked the Nutella taste, but I love that it's baked cheesecake.
Forget me Not constantly carry a wide selection of cakes on their counter so you may opt to check out the pastry fridge to get either a slice or a whole.
Though we went out of our meryenda budget, this cafe didn't fail us, we loved all the food we ordered and I may go back to try them out again...
With good service, good food and ambiance to boot this cafe will definitely be the Lilac fave.
