Enticing Flavors Added to Izakaya Sensu's Menu

Just a couple of days ago, hubs and I were serious about trying out  a couple of listed sushi bars in Manila.  This happened after watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi, a documentary movie about an 85-year old Japanese sushi master.  The master Jiro Ono, owns a Michelin three-star restaurant - Sukiyabashi Jiro located in a subway in Tokyo which we dream of trying out in the future.  Our first take on this project did not start out so well, this one was in Ortigas.

Then it hit me when I was just in Izakaya Sensu last week for their media preview of some new and exciting dishes added to their menu.  After seeing the maki lined up for our sampling, I remembered having one of the best sushi varieties with my husband here.

Read the story here:

Izakaya Reinvented by Raintree Restaurants

They have a beautiful sushi bar...

Lots of seating areas.

You may see Izakaya Sensu's menu here.  For the rolls section, they have added three appetizing variants.  Above is the Dynamite Roll.  It has all the elements I could ask for in sushi roll- salmon, blue fin tuna, avocado, cucumber, spicy mayo unagi sauce, chili powder, and tempura flakes.

There's also the Rainbow Roll, with the distinguishable pastel-colored sliced rolls which has blue fin tuna salmon, whitemeat fish, horsemackerel, squid, avocado, cucumber, flying fish roe and Yuzu skin.

Another one for the books, the delicately-flavored Aburi Uni andIka Roll.  This is for you, sea urchin fans. Aside from sea urchin, it has squid, cucumber, spring onions and flying fish roe.

For the gang who loves watching their dishes being cooked on their table, the new Wagyu Suki-Yaki elevates your quality sukiyaki time with friends and family.

One order gets you wagyu beef slices, vegetables and bean curd.  The broth was just divine and udon is also served with it.

You will be guided by the staff on how you can maximize savoring this dish.  If not make sure to dip your slightly-cooked Wagyu beef in the raw egg.

It is best  to have the sukiyaki noodles with a cold shot of sake. If you love trying out new things, well, this is high-time to practice that with a good quality sake.  We had a serving of Asian Beauty, a refreshing type of sake made from the highest kind of rice in Japan.  The alcohol content isn't intoxicating, as I've said, it was refreshing with a good fruity note at the end.

As Izakaya Sensu tries to innovate on group meals (making it accessible and easy-on the budget), they are now introducing Shabu-shabu.

This whole pack of Chan Chan Nabe - Shake Miso Shabu Shabu is good for 5 or more people. The Miso-flavored soup awaits the vegetable, salmon, and ramen noodles to join the bunch.

Isn't that enticing enough.

The dessert roster has also a new dish, Anmitsu.  Topped on a dollop of green tea ice cream are anko and cubes of Agar and some fruits./

Different Sake from Japan.
