As mentioned in the title head, I have two things to discuss here, first, the Main St. Restaurant and my very reliable, Gourmet Society Card.
Two things that kept my birthday lunch worth-having and treasuring.
Main St. Restaurant at The Tuscany, McKinley Hill
Apparently, dining at Main St. Restaurant was accidental. As I was trying to choose where to eat with my family for my birthday lunch last March (yes, this is a long overdue experience that I've been meaning to share you) after our comfortable stay at Crimson Hotel Alabang) I decided to use my Gourmet PH phone app. and it led me to some restaurants "near me". Since we were on our way to The Fort, Wowa Kitchen, Main St. and a couple more showed up. I firsr chose Wowa Kitchen, but they were close that day so we decided to go to McKinley Hill and visit Main St., which was on the suggested list of Gourmet PH.
It is one of those restaurants who actually pioneered the term "hipster place" as their concept. Coming in you will notice a modern and cool vibe, as if you are visiting a friend's bachelor pad, well except a kitchen counter will greet you first.
Partly, sophisticated, partly industrial, that's how I'm going describe this place and I bet my photos would suggest also.
I knew Main St, as one of the first to coin the term "comfort food" when they opened as it is their mission to serve you that, however their menu is inspired from the Pacific Northwest cities of Vancouver and Seattle which many foodies know to specialize in Canadian-American cuisine.
It was a Sunday so the atmosphere is so relaxed and we have all the loft for ourselves after sending off a group of Koreans eating on the table. My kids loved the interior and my husband and son really fancied the vintage bicycle displaced above the door.
My husband's first impression of the resto was thwarted as our orders came flying in and they were simply plated but looked really appetizing. The price was a bit above our expectation but nonetheless affordable.
Let me go on and share what we had...
Baked Mac n' Cheese
This hot dish was spot on the cheesy and meaty flavor at the same time without overpowering the pasta. With the combination of cheddar and parmesan cheeses, you won't go wrong with this!
Pulled Pork Rice Bowl
Another winning and savory dish is this, goes to say a new take on your rice bowl. My daughter, craving for hot steamy rice loved this as it was paired perfectly with a saucy pulled pork, stewed in barbecue sauce. It was then topped with roasted corn salsa which gave the dish a different lift and texture, She said it was a complete three-course meal in one bowl and was truly filling too.
If you are a fan of Sheperd's Pie, like my son, then this is the place to be.
How does Kitayama beef sounds to you, which were mixed in the dish? Another hot dish served with a wooden plank, this is a layer of mashed potatoes, minced Kitayama beef and vegetables and parmesan cheese.
If you want to be treated well while eatng a burger then, please do try their Lamb Burger. With the patty made up of 100% -house-ground Australian lamb, layered with harissa paste mayonnaise, you can really taste the goodness of lamb but in between good buns. But with crumbled bleu cheese and flatleaf parsley, altogether, you can say, "Ah, life is beautiful!"
Four our Sugat-babe, it's Wagyu Cheeseburger. It was the first time, she ordered a non-rice dish and was quite fascinated wit this kind of burger.
Our family love Kitayama Wagyu Beef, so I knew my daughter chose her food well. Look at how huge the patty is and boy was it juicy and cooked to how my daughter likes it. With their meat, you can always ask for the doneness.
With the fresh greens, tomato relish and onions, this too is another winning burger in town!
Both burgers were served with fries and their own house-sauce.
For me, is this plate---Blackened Chicken with Creole Butter
This is one of their newest dish and most probably became the newest crow-favorite.
Why? What if I tell you, I had a warm herbed rice topped with grilled Cajun-spiced chicken and topped with Creole butter and grilled asparagus? This is one of the top-ordered dish in restaurants in Canada and it was brought here for our indulgence.
When you say blackened btw, you coat or marinate your chicken in a mix of different spices and herbs. Definitely a must-try!
Our Family's verdict! Can you guess from the photo above?
It's a Winner!
