Solve Party Capers with Party Pop Up

How many Jollibees, McDonald's or even Shakey's birthday bashes have you been to?
I have four kids,  we live in a community where kids always celebrate birthdays with a party,  friends and relatives invites, school parties, add them all up and multiply by four,  you do the  Math!
But how many of them have stood up?  How about events that marked on their minds and heart?  Only a few!
Let's now talk about their own birthdays.   I'm sure they still dream of something that's exciting, more fun, colorful, festive  and something where you (the parents) and them having a great time.
Having and planning a special birthday party for our kids can be tricky, specially  when they’re old enough to have specific interests and search for something to keep them busy, then you’ve got to get creative.
But modern moms who wish the same thing could hardly get it all through, of course not for all.   If you're one of the parents who aren't creative nor resourceful enough to manage one.  This could be a treat for you.

Last Saturday, we were at a party, it's not an ordinary party, in fact it's no ones birthday, but it was a blast.   It was the launch of Party Pop Up.   Bloggers from Nuffnang and Clickthecity.com along with select print media and other potential clients have experienced firsthand the unique way of celebrating a birthday with Party Pop Up. The launch showcased different themes such as Underwater, Jungle, Luau, and Shabby Chic/Tea Party.

The Simplest Pink Birthday Party

My baby is now 8.  Last May 5, the girls planned a mini-party.   They have been wanting to swim and bask more in the sun, but due to the many things we need to consider, and one is budget, we had to set the idea aside for a while.   I'm just so blessed with kids who don't throw tantrums if their wants would not be met.
One time the three cousins, Dana, Jaeda and Danica, were talking to each other about their dream birthday parties.  Danica will be 7 on September, she knows all our options and she liked each one of them.    Jaeda on the other hand had hers last April but still boasted of a future Hawaiian themed party in Boracay.   Whilst Dana said, I don't need to have a party.   I'm already 8 and mommy and daddy should not spend much because we need money for school.   I'll just ask her to buy me more books.   But the two were not satisfied, telling her to have a pink party with their Barbies and "stuffies".    I'm more of thinking like a tea party is what Danica tried to tell her.
So on her day, I asked her what she would like to have on that day.   She didn't mention any.   But I know there is something in her mind but was kind enough not to ask it.   I don't know, we moms can tell what might be on their mind.   So I rushed off to the top floor, swept the fallen dried leaves on the floor, arranged the potted plants and thought of ways to decorate the whole area.   We bought pink colored papers, cut them and made pinwheels and cutesy paper cut-outs.

It was a party planned just in the nick of time.   For our princess to enjoy her birthday, with a life as a gift from God.  With all the pains she literally undergo everyday of her life and surviving each day is such a wonderful blessing to our family.
So enjoy the pictures, they are what the girls might have envisioned it and eventually had,  without putting too much effort and money on it.
Pink and white gummy candies and strawberry flavored jelly beans on empty honey jars
Pink Soda, it's only Sprite with gel food color in Rosso (Gourdo's)
Fight heat with colored ice candies
What's a birthday party without the cakes.   Forgive me but my powers weren't enough to bake her cakes plus the party was just a spur of the moment, so we had to use necessary sources.
Goldilocks Strawberry cream in 6"in round,  Sophie's Mom  famous Cupcakes
So we hurriedly went to Mega mall to check out cakes from Goldilocks and at that time Sophie's Mom's Bakeshop had their cupcakes on a 10 % discount.  We bought ice cream with three flavors, Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry from Selecta.
You see all she wanted was to have even for a short time normal kids have as snacks, candies and more sweet treats, which however is not allowed for her to take even in moderation.
No she didn't  consume a lot, and yes she tried everything in small and counted quantities.   And that for her was enjoyable enough.

Wouldn't that be an amazing simple, very affordable  but fun intimate party?   Everyone in the family contributed something just to make this happen, and we are all contented we all did it.   The smile and the laughter on that day is more than enough to give them even more as they too share their joy and love.

And the Lord speaks His promises.   While they were playing, we all noticed the rainbow on the east side of the sky, which for me is a sign that healing is already at work and we just all need to have faith in Him and rely in His promises.

2 Peter 1:4
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

An Easter Spectacle at Pan Pacific

Last Sunday was  an Easter  celebration  kids had anticipated.  Hotels in the metro  all  warmed up and prepped up in preparation for this day.    So why wouldn't we celebrate, in fact,  why don't we  celebrate  it everyday as we rise up in the  break of dawn.   Why?  Here is why...

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. “Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”
Matthew 28:5-7 NASB

Yes  Easter day is a commemoration of  the Lord's risen day.   He doesn't die every year and  rises from the dead three days after every year.   It happened once and  He paid it all once.

And I am just so happy, elated even  to be invited  to celebrate it with my kids at  the first and only  hotel in the country  that has  the finest  Butler  services,  Pan Pacific Manila.    Parents came  excited as much as their kids were,   and  we were all in for  a treat, which made us adults  became like children for a day.   Let my pictures tell you how the afternoon was.
Right before we entered,  we were greeted warmly and goodie bags were to welcome everyone
The stage adorned colorfully geared-uo for the Eggs-travagant Carnival theme
Charming dining setup, where we all sat on a cushy and tables lowered so kids are more comfortable and relaxed
My daughter Danica paused for the face to be painted

Kids and adults alike had their turns on the face painting spot which had faces livened up with colors and glitters while we enjoy more fun treats.

Giant castle and bouncy house inflatables

Kids  wandered around for the game booths provided which was made more exciting with prizes
We were kept entertained all afternoon with balloon arts, parlor games and magic shows
Spongebob, Patrick Star and the whole Bikini Bottom gang were there and so with  Noah and his animal friends

And then there's the buffet.  The ticket called for a kiddie snack buffet but hefty enough even for adults.    On our plate are hotdogs on sticks, chicken drumsticks, and spaghetti.
If you think the party ended there, wait till you see the other pictures below.

Each children experienced being inside a gigantic bubble.
Then on to the highlight of the afternoon treat, the Egg-citing "egg-hunting."   Everyone frantic about finding the eggs.   The elegant rooms were turned upside-down as each guest searched for that coveted number of eggs to win the special prize.
The prize for the one who had the most number of colored eggs had this bunny couple taken home.
Though most of the kids and parents got dismayed not bagging home the cute baby  rabbits, we all had so much fun.  Thanks to the butlers of  Pan  Pacific who were present, taking care of all the needs we had during the party.   The kids brought home tons of candies, toys and joyful memories from that afternoon and they can't wait for the next Easter celebration!
What could have been a better  spectacle for the children and the whole family to celebrate  the Lord's Risen day commemoration.

Danica's 6th Birthday Cake from Aggy's Cakes and Pastries

What: Danica Jezreel's 6th Birthday Celebration
When: September 22, 2011, Recess time
Where:  Golden Treasure Baptist Academy

This could have been  printed on a powdery-scent, light pink board with matching Barbie stickers.    But we opted having the celebration simple and private.   Our youngest daughter who didn't ask for anything else but whatever that is Barbie-doll themed, just grinned and said to her Dad, "It's okay not having Jollibee visit our school on my birthday, as long as Ate Dana is not sick anymore."   She prayed that her sister Dana will be with her at school to share her cake with her classmates and teachers.   Just days before her said and planned birthday, Dana our third child was stricken with Pneumonia, and having her blood sugar unstable, having to rush her to the hospital at 1 in the morning.
But the Lord is so gracious that she was able to recover fast, though our plans were completely mishandled due to some financial instability.
But this should not be a reason why she will not be happy on her birthday, I will not let that happen.   Once after we got out of the hospital, I went to a nearby specialty bakeshop outside Magallanes Village in Makati, to check out what I can get for her on that day.    We never told anything about her birthday, except that I will be baking chocolate cupcakes for all of them.   She didn't ask anything also, not even a birthday cake.   She understood very well the situation we were in.   But I managed to keep this a secret to her.
Here everyone look on as my daughter blew her candle.  Before that her teacher led a class prayer for her and chosen kids were given a chance to greet her in a fun and playful way.
The cupcakes I made for the ABC's of ACE class

Jaeda, her cousin and classmate enjoying the cupcake
Thanks so much to Aggy's Cakes and Pastries for whipping this up.   The kids were amazed at all the candy toppers, all "kikay" stuffs that my daughter loves.    How can they forget the huge Barbie in long violet gown candy topper.    Chef Aggy's staff makes customized cakes perfect for your themed parties and events
We had a taste for ourselves, the soft, airy and light Vanilla Cake Aggy's made.   It was very good!  The cake wasn't that sweet to lessen the sugary effect of the marshmallow frosting and the candy toppers.   For others it may be a bit pricey as compared to commercial cakes, but you have to taste the difference for yourself and you will definitely say , it's worth the price, anyway, the joy of a child on her birthday is priceless!
And no her happy day didn't end there, the whole family went to Museong Pambata, to give in to their request, but then we came in 15 minutes before it closed so we went to Cosmic Kids of Mall of Asia instead.
