September Lunch Specials at 22 Prime

If you are looking for  quick get-away from all the hustle and bustle of the metro and needing a much anticipated lunch or dinner where it's unperturbed while taking pleasure to high-grade steak selections and a wide array of haute cuisine, then the 22nd floor of Discovery Suites is the suitable point in space.

Being known for it's "prime steaks" and even being listed together with the top five Philippine restaurants by the international Miele Guide* a few years back, 22 Prime still tops newly opened steak houses not only for how their menu fare but for not making your wallet cry, cause yes, their steaks are quite affordable.

The place can be easily loved, as you can see, this spot is just so adorable for a romantic dinner for two.

For a larger party of friends, the elevated spot on the center would be most appropriate.  Smacked dabbed in the middle of the restaurant, it is also where performers do their musical gigs with a grand piano or some accompaniments.  Don't you think that would be perfect to lift at least some if not all your worries away?

Near where the piano  is placed, is another cozy spot where you can do business or just chat with your friends over some good cocktails, coffee or some hors d'oeuvres.

Near it is the bar where you can soak u with your choice drink for the day.

Don't be discriminated however with the interiors, though it's inside the hotel and serving you up with hotel qualities, this is a casual place where you and your family can have an ultimate meal, or a business-like meet up where you can engage employees or clients to striking deals and at the same time cozy up with great food.

If you do desperately wanting to try them, Discovery Suites had whipped up something to satiate your cravings for steaks and a select gustatory delight.

With Executive Chef  Gerwin  Bailon at the helm.dining in September won't ever be the same again.  For the month of September, diners at 22 Prime will be treated to new a la carte choices that are available exclusively for lunch.

It was such a pleasure getting ahead of the others when we sampled them before September ushered in.
After being served with my beverage, lemonade, and bread basket with lots of trimmings, the month's prime selection came in one by one.

This month’s prime selection includes Seared Ahi Tuna with Arugula Salad for only P 720 nett.

Elegantly adorned by a lump of arugula and tomato salad, dressed with pesto sauce and balsamic vinegar, this simple-looking dish will definitely appease every fish eater.  Pan-seared quickly on high heat achieving the blushing in the middle.

Herbs Crusted Fish with Crushed Potato, Fried Beans and Spicy Tomato Sauce (P 680 nett) followed suit.  Here, the chefs use the fresh day's catch, we were presented with baramundi (locally known as "apahap"). The fish is steamed and coated with herbs and spices and placed on a dollop of their version of mashed potato.

When they say prime they mean the word!  Thus, this superb pan-fried veal dish.  As expected, the Veal Schnitzel with Marble Potatoes and Wilted Spinach (P 1,200 nett) have given our palate such excitement, every bite gives out crisp, tender and moist mouth-feel.  We know that a veal gives out tender beefy meat, since it came form young calves, but to make it more exquisite they pounded it more, which explains its odd flat shape.  This can serve at least two people and completes the meal with a bowl of fried marbled potatoes and fried to wilt spinach.

Another complete dish to have for a filling lunch is the Chicken Mushroom Risotto with Parmesan Crisp (P 325 nett).   Next to the Seared Ahi Tuna, this was another of my favorite.  A clear-cut bang for your buck, for the price mentioned.  This grilled chicken is served with one of the best-tasting risotto I had (though nothing still compares with my mom's true-blue Italian risotto), also served with some greens, such as the spinach and micro-greens.  The thickened mushroom sauce makes the whole dish something to be raved about.

Trying out the above abundance made my stomach really heavy, but I was still looking forward to the dessert, till we were reminded that another dish, which happens to be meat-lovers' word of mouth.

For steak lovers, 22 Prime features USDA Angus Prime Center Cut Sirloin.  For a whopping cost of  P 2,200 only, you get a pretty slab of approximately 500 grams of beef.  So what's to love with this prime cut?  Probably the most famous cut, sirloin steaks are lean, so marbling isn't as much taken in consideration here.  The moist and tender, and a bit chewy meat is seasoned enough with a rendering of pure beefy goodness, that's all-natural.

This treat will only be available for lunch and dinner until September 30, at P 2,200 nett

Though I got fascinated with the steak, even though I'm not really a fan of any beef dishes, my heart was pumping harder in anticipation to dessert.  For the month's lunch special, they highlighted Coffee Tiramisu (P 250 nett).  Again, too large serving for me, but I never mind, cause once you had the first bite, all you'll need to do is to keep on spooning until you bloat up, but will never get tired of it.

The decorative layering have made me wonder what each layer tasted like.  Mascarpone cream is altered with sliced chocolate cake soaked in coffee with the dreamy chocolate shavings, will just put everything into place in your life and will give you that boost to continue facing life's hurly burly.

The steak-specialty restaurant is touted as one of Metro Manila’s premier destination for high-grade, USDA-grade meats.  It was recently included in the 2014 edition of Philippine’s Best Restaurants List of the Philippine Tatler.

Discovery Suites, Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay, Discovery Shores Boracay, Club Paradise Palawan, and Discovery Primea (opening 2014) are managed by The Discovery Leisure Company Inc (TDLCI).
