A Visit at Lola Puzzle's Mansion

A thought-provoking sign that says " The Guinness World  Records for the Largest Collection of Puzzles" led us to this estate.
The Puzzle Mansion Bed and Breakfast is not meant to be hidden, though it is tucked away in its own private hideaway, perfect for a romantic get-away or a relaxing  family holiday.   It was too late when we visited the place on the first day of 2013, we had booked several days prior to the holidays on a different rest-house in Tagaytay.   Knowing that there are lots of venues dying to be revealed, we chose to spend Christmas and New Year with the family here in Tagaytay.   The highlight of our vacation was an afternoon spent looking for the path that will lead us to the Museum for the Largest Collection of Puzzles.

Bobbing in the middle of hectares of pineapple plantation and log cabins, looked liked blue splotches from above the hill, the gate welcomes every guest with a guard radioing another from downhill warning the other guard on the radio not to send a car up yet.  A ride down the villa seemed like a maze already, you might think it is part of the whole puzzling thing.    Let me warn you also  that the way down the mansion or up the gate is a steep approximately 45 degree angled ride, so make sure your automobile is built for that kind of course, and one car at a time can pass on it.

A luxury Bed and breakfast  accommodates couples and families as big as 4 to 6 members.   Each room has comfortable beds, sitting areas, bathroom with hot and cold water, LED TV and comes with breakfast.    Facilities such as swimming pool, massage area and of course the hall that boasts of the largest collection of puzzles made by a Filipina.   Known as the puzzle queen, Mrs. Gina Lacuna, started doing puzzles 26 years ago.   Till now she still is into finishing more.
Check out more of their rooms at the Puzzle Mansion BnB website.
They welcome everyone, even if you just want to see the collection, though they charge P100 for a visit to the museum.   But if you are guests staying at any rooms, free entrance to the museum is included in the package.
It was an honor to have meet her and hear about how she was able to get where she is now, and how she had expanded her love for solving puzzles and we have to give it to her, she does deserve to have that Guinness Record.   The best thing my kids have learned through the guided tour was the lesson and values gained from finishing a hard puzzle, perseverance and patience.

My kids found their favorite character up on a wall.   There's is Barbie, Disney princesses and lots more.

WE even found a framed puzzle for our pup.

This one looked liked the last cross-stitch pattern I used to eye doing.
For a puzzle lover like me, an hour or two of appreciating the accruement is inadequate.   Would you have love to spend a day investigating each frames and solve a puzzle while you are at it and rest on a room nearby?   I have also read that the meals they serve, including breakfast is very hefty.
A big hall was dedicated to house the puzzle collections, which came from different parts of the world.    Most are intricate and unique pieces.
See even a Precious Moment piece is here.

Puzzled reproduction of famous and expensive artworks can also be found here.
Each framed finished puzzle has a description of the name of the art-piece,  the number of the puzzle pieces, the time it took Mrs. Gina Lacuna to finish it, the dimension of the piece and the origin of the puzzle.

This is a definitely better family picture which we never expected to have.   The one with the Puzzle queen herself, owner of the Puzzle Mansion, now holds the Guinness World Records for the largest collection of puzzles.   My kids know her by what she have decided for them to call her, 'Lola Puzzle.'  What a privilege to have my youngest hold the certificate!
