Summer Stroll at he Gourmand Market

As a person who has a penchant for discovering outrageously yummy food, I always make sure that I live up to my standards, by it being healthy, artistically palatable, beknownst to have been prepared by gourmands that never undermines the value of good food.  Thus, I'm always on a look out for events bursting with spectacular ambiance and flavor.

THE GOURMAND MARKET happens to be on top of my foodie events list.

The 15th Grand Wine Experience

A wine’s vintage speaks of more than just the year of harvest. It is, in essence, the headline of an article, the name of a painting, the title of a novel; one that alludes to a period of romance between the sun, rain, wind, earth and man; and tells the story of how a confluence of such disparate elements can, under just the right conditions, yield poetry in a bottle.

Amid the confusing sea of bottles in one store that I found myself lost to way back when I was in Milan, I didn't see myself reveling in it's worth.  Not even after 10 years, when I would let those dark green bottles  accumulate dusts in the pantry and give a disdainful look those that have gifted me with wines. And the taste was yuck!  It would hurt every single part of my taste buds and the burning sensation that goes right through the esophagus was traumatic.

The Real Oktoberfest Experience at The Fort

Here's a cool news to beer drinkers and munchers who needs the best downtime with the barkada.  THE REAL OKTOBERFEST EXPERIENCE AT THE FORT is for you!

Ready your calendar, your tummy and your break-money for this year's intoxicsting celebration of Oktoberfest brought to us Bonifacio Global City. On October 16 to 17 at the Fort Entertainment Complex Open Parking expect music x appetizing grub x fun games x your favorite brew.

The ultimate fun happens, beggining with overflowing Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, a Munich blend prepared only for the said event and it will be sold exclusively at Draft Gastropub.  Funny but I just read the first producers of this celebratory brew were friars as a source of fund for their cloister's religious activities.  Paulaner is the brewery named after the founder of the order, Francis de Paola.

Beer drinking celebration isn't complete without food, and there is never a shortage of it in BGC.  In fact, together with Draft Gastropub, a line of top-notch restos and watering holes surrond the area and will be participating on the same event.

Huge discounts from BGC's friendly etablishments are up for grabs- Aracama, Kraft, Katsu, Scarlet, Tony Roma's, K- Pub and Cable Car.

For those who feel down-trodden, put those emotions into good use and join the #HugotQuizNight.  It's a trivia game full of surprising questions with that tug-n the heart moments, but be wary and ready your wits and memory, time to reczll those hugot lines you have been keeping in mind and make sure you know who's lines are those and from what movie?

Aside fom that there will be more games such as beer pong, Jenga, Snakes and Ladder, Tic-tac-toe, etc.

Finally, this open-event will be capped off with a free concert of Up Dharma Down on October 17 at 7 pm.

For more info, do  visit www. facebook.com/bonifacioglobalcityph or download the Bonifacio Global City app through the App store or Google Play, for free.

A Month-long Chocolate and Wine Festival at Newport Mall

It's beginning to sound and taste like Valentine's Day and Christmas Day all at the same time as Newport Mall, in partnership with Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, is celebrating the decadent duo of chocolate and wine with delicious pairings, chocolate carvings and more at its Chocolate and Wine Festival this October.

In the launch that happened last Oct. 1, 2015 at the ground floor of Newport Mall, media, wine connoisseurs and chocolate-lovers have all mingled and shared common love for the
gourmet duo.

Sumptuous cocktails and of course three of the highlighted chocolate and wine pairings from Bar 180 were sampled.

Maginhawa Food Festival

I've been meaning to do a food tour at Maginhawa St., Quezon City ever since I first heard of it.   My first UP Teacher's Village food tour was with some church friends, back when my 10 year-old daughter was to celebrate her 7th birthday.  Hubby and I decided to have lunch meeting with some of our party organizers at Gayuma ni Maria.

Years went by, still yearning to do a trip back there, which may be more like a field trip, cause we live far south from Q.C.   However, an invitation came for a food review at "the" Maginhawa St., finally and it was from Galli Village Cafe.

Furthermore, my itchy feet made a way for the family to travel to Malingap St., one of the streets adjoining Maginhawa to check out Chef Edward Bugia's  π Breakfast and Pie on its soft opening.

That was it!  Among the twenty or so number of cafe's and restaurant, and now foodies still counting, I have only been to three of them.

Best Food Forward 2014, A Photo Diary

Every year, there are a number of fairs I always look forward to attending.  Most of it are about food, health and where my kids could have a wonderful time with me.  This year is not an exception, so when I knew about the Best Food Forward happening again, I made sure that we could come and take pleasure in what our local food purveyors has in store for us.

I love going to this event, here is where I find new innovative products that we can always count on for parties, gift-giving ideas and, you know, just to stoke up on some toothsome epicurean delight.

Though I'm used to attending at The Fort Tent, this time they held it at the Rockwell tent.  Compared to last years event, and the first year they had it, it was a bit of tighter in space.  Also, fewer concessionaires were there.  But the activities and food-brimming sampling were enough to satiate every foodies'

Savor: A Decade of F&B World Connections and Good Eats

As the year 2013 marked F & B World magazine's 10 year of forgathering the food service industry, they have presented Savor.  It ends the year with the most flavorful gathering, bringing foodies, restaurateurs, hoteliers, writers and bloggers at one venue, Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive.

With a decade on their cap F&B World, Northern Living and Southern Living co-presented the launching of  Hinge Inquirer Publication's newest book -EATS 2014:  Your Ultimate Handy Guide to Your Next Gastronomic Adventure last December 9, 2013.

F & B World is the only trade publication for the food and beverage industry that bridges its readers to the ins and outs of the food service field from the past years.

The seeming growth of food and beverage, hospitality and other recreational services have triggered a large need for resource-based materials that convey timely trends and fearless forecast that always remain true. And much of these have been from the works of a roster of individuals who have made F & B today.  From the likes of Adolf Aran, Jr., Vic Alcuaz, Rommel Geodias, Reggie Aspiras and Paul Antione Genuino, topics about hotel services, food safety, dining, etc, have well been discussed in their respective columns.

The event was also made possible by Avida, Great Food Soultions, Universal Motors Corp. (Nissan), Unilever Food Solutions, Nestle Professional, in cooperation with DLSU-Dasmarinas, Philippine Coffee Board, Sun Business, Puratos, Belcolade, Agico, Brotzeit, Burger Avenue, Cafe 205,  Geisha, Myons French Mediterranean Cuisine and J. Cuppacakes, Ayala Malls, PDI, Inquirer.net, and National Bookstore.

Will tell you more about EATS 2014, when I get to review and write about it,  so keep coming back.  All I can say for now, is that it's the ideal gift you can give any foodie!
