General's Chicken P 225 |
Gosh, I guess many foodies would say, "you've been hiding under a rock all these years!"
Recipes by Cafe Metro had been around since 2000. I'm sure I've been to at least one of their many chains of restaurant on some malls by it's a shame why I can't remember an experience.
Anyhow, just last month, together with a couple friends based in the South and some newly met foodies, we had lunch at Recipes, which was way tucked in behind other establishments. It's actually located outside the main mall of ATC, Alabang.
Regular mall-goers should know them, but if you're not from that area, it may be hard to find it.
This quaint location and space may not win you but I assure you, their menu is a jewel.
Each dish may be shared by two or three persons, or can be enjoyed by one. With a minimum spend of P 300 per head.
As suggested by one of the ladies that were with us, we ordered their best-selling and famous General's Chicken.
Well, it didn't disappoint. This bowl of fried chicken strips is laced with sweet and chili sauce which you can somehow compare to Bonchon's. But the flavor is still beyond compare. The addition of fried eggplants. Make sure you order it with plain rice or General's fried rice.
Gising-gising P 190 |
Crispy Tilapia with Tamarind Sauce P 230 |
Vegetable Kare-Kare P 175 |
Would you believe all these were shared by six hungry people? But with s few health-conscious ladies whom didn't have rice? And we only paid less than P1300. That's #SULIT!
All in all, the lunch was hefty, truly satisfying, which makes up for the simplicity of the place and being cramped. We were surprised that the serving was fast and efficient, the staff were even patient in taking or group photos. They are Filipino-Asian fare with no-fuss menu, just delish.
