Dona Elena Quick Fix Sardine Pasta in Tomato and Tricolor Pepper Sauce

Did you know that October 25 is celebrated around the globe as World Pasta Day?

It was first celebrated in the year 1995 when the World Pasta Congress was held in Rome on 25th October 1995, and since then has been established as the day to celebrate pasta.

Delegations from various countries together discussed the theme of the collective promotion in favor of pasta consumption by exchanging their thoughts, opinions, and experiences. The World Pasta Congress has been using the Pasta Day to promote people eating pasta, along with its cultural and culinary importance. The organization took an initiative to spread knowledge about the pasta consumption among the consumers. They have promoted this day through the promotions of collective initiatives and campaigns. Globally, every country is encouraged to celebrate this Day on their own with the official logo of the organization.

In our country, there's only one brand that paved way to this celebration - Dona Elena.

Doña Elena had initiated October as the World Pasta Month, in honor of the Pasta celebration held around the world.  With this, they are encouraging everyon, especially pasta lovers to join in the fun.

The World Pasta Day can be best celebrated by treating yourself with a hot plate of pasta.

Dona Elena always says "A great pasta dish starts with great pasta."

Dona Elena Al Dente pasta lives up to its name as being “al dente” or “firm to the bite” Made from 100% Durum Wheat Semolina. It has a higher protein content and uses 100% all-natural and GMO-free ingredients. Dona Elena is available in five variants: Fettuccine, Spaghetti, Penne, Rigate, Fusilli and Lasagna.

To celebrate with the world, I whipped up an easy tomato sauce using Dona Elena Whole tinned tomato and livened it up with some Dona Elena Sardines and tri-color mini bell peppers.

Here  is the recipe:

Sardine Pasta in Tomato and Tricolor Pepper Sauce

Ingredients:

1 pack 250 g. Dona Elena Al Dente Spaghetti
1 can Dona Elena Tinned whole tomato
1 bottle Dona Elena Spanish Sardines
3 cloves garlic, chopped
5 pcs. tri-color bell peppers (green, red, yellow), cubed
optional, pinch of dried thyme or rosemary
salt and pepperto taste

Procedure

1. Cook pasta according to package direction.
2. In another pan, with meduim heat, sautee garlic with two tablespoon of the olive oil from the sardine jar.
3.  Drop in the tomatoes and press gently until it extracts the juice and the meat separates from each other having smaller bits of tomatoes.
4. When it is boiling, put half of the jar of sardines, reserve at least two pieces for plating.
5. When everything mixes together in a stew, dump in the bell peppers.
6. Season with salt and pepper, and herbs.
7. Cook 10 minutes more in slow fire.
8. Plate and enjoy!

I was able to prepare and cook this pasta dish in less than 30 minutes.  In time for more other dishes I can think of doing.  There's a whole lot of possibility with the range of Dona Elena products.
