Resorts World Manila's Run with Me, A Successful Second Run for a Cause

Whatever your reasons are in joining a charity run, one thing is for sure, it will be a fantastically rewarding experience.  It may not be true to everyone especially if you were not prepared in doing so, as you may have had a hard time finishing the race or if it wasn't fun for you.

But what I've witnessed early this morning changed my overall thought of running.  Well, I never really run on a regular basis, but if you can consider doing chores in our home, it might fall under vertical run.  In any case, I did find this morning's event exhilarating, even though I hate waking up really early in the morning.

So, what was the run about or for?

More than 3000 participants (both RWManila employees and public participants) have penned in to join this charity run.  It does not only benefit one organization, celebrities led their teams  to run for their chosen organizations such as YesPinoy Foundations, HERO Foundation Inc., Tzu Chi Foundation, EPCALM Adult Leukemia Foundation and COR Foundation.

This is Resorts World Manila's second Run with Me, which started out last 2016 as an initiative for employees only to promote health, wellness and camaraderie.  Now, internationally recognized as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event it had captured the attention of the charitable and the active, eager for a dose of runner's high.

From 800 participants last year, today marked an astounding number of 5000 runners, thanks to the grown number of celebrities who also jumped in.  Among the celebrity leaders who guided five teams to the finish line are Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles (Red Team) for COR Foundation, Cristine Reyes and Ali Khatibi (Purple Team) for the HERO Foundation, Gian Magdangal (Green Team) for the Tzu Chi Foundation and Meg Imperial (Pink Team) for Yespinoy Foundation, and Rovilson Fernandez (Brown Team) for EPCALM

Veteran running coach Rio Dela Cruz served as co-organizer of the race (for Run Rio Inc.) Other celebrity supporters are Gerald Anderson, Bea Alonzo, Jake Cuenca, Kim Chiu, Jeffrey Santos, and Jason Zamora of the Manoeuvers to name a few.

This year's Run with Me race is divided into three categories with 21K, 10K, and 5K distances. Both 21K and 10K finishers will earn a medal. The event ended with awarding the fastest finishers of the race.

My husband and I were under the Purple team and we finished our 5 K run in an hour and our team won first place benefitting HERO Foundation.  YesPinoy bagged 1.2 M as a benefit for the collective time run of the Pink team.
