Thanks to my genes, if I'd be fairly reasonable in my expectations, I rarely need to lose more than five pounds, though I've been cooking, baking and yeah, eating for like all my life. But I must admit that there were times that I need to spread my exercise mat on the floor and sweat my butt out for at least 15 minutes just to finish an entire burger over a meal complete with fries and milkshakes, especially if this meal is from Charlie's Grind and Grill.
This well-loved burger joint along Kapitolyo, Pasig, stood the test of time. Long before the rest of what Kapitolyo is now, Charlie's have been already serving one of the metro's best-selling burger.
With clientele that goes beyond the regular car owners who have their cars cleaned and buffed.
But more than their tasty burgers are a wide range of comfort food perfect for those times that you needed more than fillings in your tummy.
The Dirty Fries...
If you are the adventurer foodie, this one is for you! It's a cross between your unique street food and your gourmet food. Likened to Canadians' Poutine, these fries were topped with layers of uniqueness. From the perfectly grilled chicken livers, bacon bits, to the chopped tomatoes and onion leeks, all laced with a beautiful truffle cream.
In their new menu, they showed that kitchen is also another turf to be played at and they did played well in this chicken dish.
Reversed Buffalo Wings
Instead of coating the fried chicken wings the usual tomato based sauce, they used bleu cheese and had the spicy sauce in dipping dishes. I love it.
They also added more choices for their list of pasta.
The Spicy Shrimp Pasta is something you might wanna try, since your tongue isn't heated yet with the Buffalo wings, the pasta might give you that enough kick you might be looking for. Spiciness can be customized though.
Another new burger on the menu is the Sloppy Burger, their version of sloppy Joe.
You can choose from Angus to Wagyu patty, grilled the way you want it (make sure you mention the doneness to the satff). Ready your hands and mouth to get extra dirty as cheese, eggs and some sauce ooze out in every bite.
I found this burger way harder to eat than I thought, so I ate it with a fork, hahah. The burger consists of the patty topped with a cheddar, then with fried egg, a generous serving of chili con carne and then spruced up with slices of jalapeno and onions, until finally the sour cream, drizzled generously.
It wasn't my first time to visit but it seemed like one with all these newbies in the menu. I was quite startled with them but in the end came home really satisfied and super stuffed.
The next day was a different story!
Oh, before I forget, do try their milk shakes, they're superb, my personal fave was the strawberry milkshake.
