Sometime, a couple of weeks ago, I took a trip down memory lane at this new bistro in Tomas Morato, but more than that, this establishment celebrates the fun, nostalgic vibe of the decades past with good food.
After opening its doors to the public last July 30, Reminisque Bistro have been catering classic comfort Filipino dishes, booze and music epitomizing "blast from the past," as the name implies. Reminisque is a cozy dining hub which aims to provide a venue for adult professionals and yuppies who are craving for some straight-up, comfort grub with the distinct feel of hometown goodness.
There are a lot of bars and watering holes in the area, but most od the times diners would still go out in search for satisfying after-drink grubs, which most bars don'r have. That's where Reminisque comes in.
Reminisque Bistro’s homey, modern Filipino interiors are the perfect setting for people who just want to unwind after a stressful day at work. A service cocktail bar features a wide array of drinks—pure, concocted and fondly stirred with alcoholic mixes, spirits, vodka, seasonal fruits, and sweeteners. Their private function rooms with 35-seating capacity can also hold special meetings, gatherings, and small parties. Apart from its cozy, contemporary ambiance and delightful homegrown food,
Reminisque Bistro holds themed nights that cater to adult audiences seeking for nostalgic music of the past. Their pool of DJs plays expertly curated songs that span from the ‘70s, ’80s, ‘90s to the present while acoustic performers provide guests with relaxing chill music that they can sing along to and enjoy in the background. For quality dining experience that takes you back to the good ole days, Reminisque Bistro is the perfect go-to place for a much-deserved indulgence.
Reminisque ncorporates fresh new ideas with delicious regional taste but at the same time to gratify their thirst for good booze. Their best-seller Kansi, and all dishes are specially prepared in classic, flavorful glory. Aside from the famous Sarsa Kitchen who serves my favorite Ilongo dish, I now can trek down Tomas Morato whenever I have a hankering.
Kansi is a rare Ilonggo delicacy that straddles the fine line between bulalo and sinigang.
Their traditionally prepared kare-kare brings a slice of home: earthily smoothened and savored with grounded peanuts and roasted rice grains.
The famous Reminisque chicken —fried to golden brown with a unique savory taste you’ll surely remember. “We hired a chef, experienced in creating various dishes including his old recipes gathered,”Matias says about how they sort through and curate the food in their menu.
Sisig is classic must-have for our family. Reminisque made it more special with pita bread.
A lengue fan right here can't say no to their version of Lengua Estofado—a rich and tasty ox tongue recipe in creamy mushroom sauce and red wine
Apart from the from the regional dishes that had saome innovative reinventions, they do have some pasta choices in the menu too. Highly recommendable is this Carbonara Fetuccini.
Desserts are a few but ending a meal with their house brewed coffee can be as good.
The bistro is open daily for lunch up until the last call, which is usually at 2:00 am.
