TRAVEL: Adventuresome Bukidnon, Where I had my first zipline action

During my last visit to Mindanao, I was happy to have visited Bukidnon.

The Province known as the fruit basket of the country is located in Northern Mindanao Philippines. It has vast plantations of pineapple and also considered as the Pineapple Capital of the Philippines. The setting can be quite comparable to that of Baguio in Northern Luzon, it is cold and mountainous which is very perfect for Horses and Cowboys thus, having been dubbed the name as “Little Baguio of Mindanao”.

With it's many compellation, an adventure awaits and no, not for the faint-hearted!

In Bukidnon, you can find and experience the New Longest and Fastest Zipline in Asia, which is found in DAHILAYAN ADVENTURE PARK. It contains 3 Ziplines which are 150 meters, 320 meters and 840 meters, all for the price of 600 Philippine Pesos only.

But before I share you my mind-blowing experience at Dahilayan Park, let me share the beauty and charm of Dahilayan Forest Park.

There is a Forest Camp, horse-back riding, ATV and zorb.  Inside is Cowboy’s Grill, for the insatiable foodie in you.  Coffee costs a bit more though.  They are most popular for their delicious varieties of steaks.

One thing however made me so "kilig", when I was here, though, even without my husband at my side was remembering the movie that was shot here, Forever and A Day with  KC Conception and Sam Milby.

KC Concepcion played the character of Raffy who met Eugene played by Sam Milby. Eugene arrived in Bukidnon with one intention in mind to forget his problems at work. Raffy was instrumental in Euge’s life for she was the one who had been with him while roaming Bukidnon.

The friendships developed between Eugene and Raffy until such time that Eugene realized that he was falling in love with Raffy, the girl to taught him how to forget his problems and was able to bring back the confidence lost in his life. He learned to appreciate himself more and look himself in a positive way.

The movie ended positively but heart-wrenching.  It's a good example of true-love and courage and all about the grand beauty of the hills of Bukidnon.

But if it’s plain adrenaline you’re after, then Dahilayan Adventure Park is the place for you. Do you know that it has the longest zipline in Asia? Aside from that, they also offer ATV rides, chockful of surprises and activities for the whole family.

Dahilayan Adventure Park boasts of two 840m Ziplines with a drop of 100 meters. Zipriders are transported via 4WD Safari Cruiser to a launch tower at 4500′ above sea level.  You'll zoom through the rainforest canopy at 60-80 kph to land at their Carrier-type flight deck using a special arresting gear system.

Oh yes, that's me and I'm proud to say that I braved it!  Even though the fog was getting thicker I still managed to try it, the experience of touching the tallest pine tree of the forest, seeing meandering lakes in between ravines and feeling the moist of the high air, it was just so exhilarating, though, I was praying silently, yes, I could have died (might) but I didn't!  Thank you Jesus!

From CDO city to Dahilayan

At Agora Market, there  is a terminal where you can ride a van going to Camp Philips.  It will take you an hour. Then while at Camp Philips look for a tricycle or habal-habal that you can hire to take you up to the adventure park,

Or, you may opt to go to Divisoria St. in CDO and rent a bus (CDO-Dahilayan, Dahilayan-CDO) for P500. Look for the Forest Park's office at CDO.
