Make Dishes Stand Out with Organique Acai
I love my family as much as I love myself and when it comes to our family's health I do not compromise. Sometimes I just can't say no to someone who comes along and offers me something that might help improve my family's health, specially when we talk about diabetes and how to prevent aging.
I've had a lot of exchange of ideas, tried almost everything that promotes good health and sometimes food and natural medicine alternatives, I guess this blog can somehow show you how crazy health conscious I have become throughout the years in the recipes that I shared and the products I have features, though not so much on the food I eat outside home.

Truly Flawless Skin at RCC Amazing Touch
I used to be annoyed and might I mention that I'm ashamed of sharing this to you. But I adhered to the saying that a problem shared is a problem solved. I used to have them in clusters and no amount of make-up have hid them and frequent visits to the facial center didn't help as well.

Sweet Sorghum: Another Sweet and Healthy Discovery
Whenever I go to bazaars and trade fairs, I usually have food on my mind, but not just any kind of food, it has to be under the category of healthy and delicious enough for my kids. And whenever I'm caught shopping for such, I always ask and it never failed to catch my attention, whether it is diabetic-friendly.
At the last Big Bite! The Northern Food Festival in Pampanga, I got to talk to the hard-working couple who were also noted as Sweet Sorghum Couple - Antonio and Doris Arcangel, owners of BAPAMIN Inc., Batac City. I was, as always, on a look out for a pasalubong fit for my diabetic daughter, and in my last stall stop I saw a low glycemic liquid sweetener. It was from Healtika, but what I came home with are bags of sorghum grains and flour.

Acupuncture is the Next Big Thing to Free us from Pain
All people or some, suffer from some kind of pain, may be due to diagnosed sickness or accidents and even stress. Many have succumbed to popping pain-reliever pills which gives ephemeral treatments but brutal damages or side effects are being shadowed.
It's not that I'm against medicines but studies have shown serious effects on unprescribed meds, thinking it will relieve you of such pains.
Not many know that there is another side rather than continuously taking unnecessary medications- Acupuncture. Still skeptics turn their heads away from the known fact that acupuncture really helps.
The first time I heard a story of a friend who benefited from acupuncture was probably 8 years ago. Angela endured long years of pain in the wrist until she had consulted an Ayurveda practitioner and treated her with acupuncture. That was the first time, I ever knew someone who got well with acupuncture. Prior to her treatments, she was endorsed for surgery, which was the doctors last recourse for patients with carpal tunnel syndrome.

Friggies + Juicing = Healing
After reading and researching after the good behind drinking freshly juiced fruits and vegetables, I myself became a convert. Aside from being a great way to add nutrients from the fruits or vegetables our body would normally get there are many health benefits of drinking freshly juiced fruits and vegetables.
Fruit and vegetable juices retain most of of the vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals (phytonutrients) that would be found in the whole versions of those foods. These nutrients can help protect against cardiovascular disease, cancer and various inflammatory diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis. Valuable compounds called flavonoids and anthocyanins are abundant in a variety of fruits and vegetables and guard against oxidative cellular damage, which comes from everyday cellular maintenance and is exacerbated by exposure to chemicals and pollution.
Thus, juicing have been welcomed by foodies and health-advocates alike all over the metro. Friggies, a social enterprise hailing from the countryside is now ready to come out in the open to offer juicing with a new twist.

On Health: Sylimarin In Action
Our liver does three main things: helps digest the food we eat, make proteins and gets rid of bad stuff. All the blood that has visited the small intestines flows through the portal vein into the liver, so almost all of the nutrients we eat have to pass through the gauntlet of the liver before passing to the heart for generalized distribution.
Why almost? There's a little absorption in our mouth and under our tongue, but almost means 99 percent for the typical person. The liver then decides what gets kept out, what gets patted down and inspected and what's allowed in to be distributed throughout your body.
In anatomy subject, we knew that the liver is the largest glandular organ in the body and performs many vital functions, including the ones I mentioned. It is a vital organ that supports nearly every organ in the body in some facet. This boils down to the fact that without a healthy liver, a person cannot survive.
In 2010, Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease or NAFLD prevalence in the Philippines is 17.2 percent. It is an abnormal accumulation of fat in the liver cells. It can be harmless, but sometimes it may cause the liver to swell. It is a common condition. The risk factors of NAFLD include Diabetes, Obesity, High fat diet, and certain medicines.
“The first line of treatment would depend on what is the cause. If the cause is obesity, definitely weight reduction and exercise should be recommended. Sometimes we will refer them to nutritionists for proper guidance. If he/she has fatty liver, SGPT and the SGOT is high, that’s the time we give hepatotrophic agents for whatever its worth”, said Dr. Jane Ricaforte-Campos, an internist-gastroenterologist.
This September 4 at 6 p.m., join Trianon International in a health forum with guest speaker, Dra. Katherine Arupo-Reyes, an occupational medicine specialist, as we broaden our awareness for NAFLD and liver care.
