Let LG Keep Your Food for Longer

We’ve been witnessing an eating revolution over the last few years. More and more, modern recipes and cooking techniques have been emphasizing the importance of eating healthy and sourcing fresh ingredients in order to cook well-balanced meals from scratch. Cooking with fresh ingredients instead of processed or preserved food results in meals packed with more nutrients and flavor. Ingredients that don’t come out of a can or plastic packaging are also infinitely healthier.

Having a well-organized and correctly stocked refrigerator is the first step in eating fresh and making a healthier life change. The refrigerator is key to preserving ingredients before cooking. It doesn’t just keep things cool—it also ensures that humidity levels, light, and temperature stay at an optimal level for storing food. In order to make the most of your fridge, you should know how to properly store and organize food. Knowing which compartments to put certain fresh produce and ingredients makes it more possible to preserve their nutrients and ensure that they don’t go bad. It’s also important to store food properly to reduce the risk of contamination.

LG’s InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerators set the gold standard for food preservation. These fridges are equipped with special temperature-controlled compartments that maintain the distinctive taste and aroma of each ingredient, and guarantees ideal storage conditions for fresh and frozen food. Understanding how each compartment regulates temperature can make it easier to find the right place for each kind of food.
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to crowd the shelves and stuff the fridge too full. Cold air needs to flow within the refrigerator—when too much food blocks the flow of air, the fridge has to work harder, leaving certain areas warmer. Don’t place food against the back or sides of the fridge, and try to keep all of the food separated by about half an inch. Taking an intelligent approach to storing food in the fridge encourages good airflow and an even temperature, assuring that food will less likely become rancid.
The upper shelves of a refrigerator tend to have the most consistent temperature. Store food that don’t need to be cooked in these shelves, such as drinks and ready-to-eat foods like cheese, deli meats and herbs. The top part of the LG InstaView Door-in-Door features a rack for keeping up to four bottles of whites, sparkling wines or champagne in an optimal temperature, and a sealed Utility Box for storing cheese and deli items.
You can store meats, poultry, seafood on the lower shelves of the refrigerator where the air tends to be colder. Just make sure they’re in plastic containers so any juices that might escape won't contaminate other food. If you need to keep meat, fish and seafood longer, these are best kept in the freezer.
Keep veggies at the bottommost of the fridge where the temperature is coldest. The LG InstaView Door-in-Door has the Moist Balance Crisper, another sealed drawer that features a specially designed lattice box cover. This innovative cover helps manage air flow within the box and maintains peak moisture levels, keeping vegetables in their optimal state of freshness.
The shelves on the sides are the warmest part of the fridge and should be reserved for food that don’t easily spoil such as condiments, juices and other food that can stand up to temperature fluctuations. Refrain from putting dairy in these shelves.
As an added precaution, LG has equipped their refrigerators with a Hygiene Fresh+™
Technology, which uses a five-stage filter that eliminates food spoiling agents such as dust, fungi spores, acidic and alkaline odors and bacteria. The system also removes up to 99.999 percent of air-borne food contaminants, and purifies the air inside the refrigerator so that fresh produce and perishables last longer.

The InstaView innovation itself also prevents food from spoiling fast. Knocking twice on the glass panel on the door will allow you to see inside the easy access compartment without opening the door. This prevents cold air loss, helping keep food fresher longer.
