Lessons LIFE Taught Me for 42 Years

You've heard it right I'm already 42 (March 20 was my birthday, haven't you known) and I never denied my age,  but I try to conceal it, I'd to thank good health, contentment, and love for that.

Again, many would be surprised if I tell them my age and I always get this statement, "You don't look your age!" And I would joke like "Oo nga parang 39 lang" (when I told them I'm already 40). Many would say, age is just a number, I couldn't agree more, but I'd rather use this thought - As we grow old, We grow riper.

Ripe as I am when I'm ready to meet my Maker, my Savior, my God.

I always say to myself, when that time comes, will I know Him, will He acknowledge me, will He accept me?

The answers may still be unpredictable, but what I believe is that the life I lived will be the gauge of that.

I always check on myself whether I'm meeting my gauge or not. This article does not prove anything about me, I'm still at work and forever will be, but as much as possible I try to make this journey called LIFE worth looking back at. And maybe, just maybe, I can help someone going through battles, storms or fire.

Here is the list of the things I learned, some are fool-proof testimonies of how you can conquer LIFE, even with gazillions of mistakes and failures.

1. TIME is GOLD.

The better you use your time, the more you will accomplish, and the greater your rewards will be.

2. GOD listens to your prayers.

If you think no one sees you, hear you, even when you don't speak, Someone does.
Sometimes, we think our prayers are unanswered because we've done something wrong or that He      just does not listen whic brings me to the next great learning.

3. God answers our prayers in...

YES! - Your faith is enough to move God.
No! God has something better for you than what you are asking for or God’s idea of a “good                     thing” might be different than yours.
Wait! - It isn’t the right time or God is waiting for you to be obedient.

3Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
    - Hebrews 11:1

4. If you know the Bible, and follow what it says, you don't need to know the whole Constitution or the Human Rights Bill.  You'll be fine!

5. There's a guide map to blessing! Truly.  IT'S THE BIBLE, nothing else.

6. Don't do unto others what you don't want others do unto you.”
    - Confucius

Same as, "Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets."  - Matthew 7:12

7. Explore, inhale nature, it's good for you.

8. On hurt.

The one you love the most will be the one who will hurt you the most.
     Housewives #alamnathis.

9.  You can forgive but never forget. But don't cling on to hurtful events, instead, use it to change your perspective, it will make you stronger and smarter, that's why God allows those things in our lives.

10. Fuel your passion with love and perseverance.

11. Don't aim for perfection, instead, strive for continuous improvement.

      NO ONE IS PERFECT Teh!
You can always stay good (in what you are or what you are striving for) or get better, then you'll realize that you're one of the best already!

I'm hangin' in there, still long miles to achieve greatness, I don't mind, as long as I'm enjoying the journey...

12.  Never ever compare with someone!

When I was growing up, my mother would always say "Bakit si _____ ganyan, bakit ikaw hindi?"
I would always disappoint myself trying to be someone my mother would compare me to.

So, when I became a mom, I tried not to compare my kids to anybody else, they're unique               individuals and I believe God had destined them to be amazing people.

However, sometimes we would fall to that mistake without really realizing.  There was one instance when my daughter told me "Iba ka naman Mommy, you're strong, I'm not."

13. On being strong.

I'm going to confess something, I wasn't strong, I'm a crybaby (my kids know!) If you see me as one, here is where I draw my strength from -my kids!

I need to be strong physically, to provide for them, that when they wake up, there's food in the table, there are clean clothes, and all the comforts of life is provided for them.
I need to be strong mentally to always be present for them, when they want to be heard, when they needed help in deciding, or just be the wisdom when they needed one, even though I know Google is so much powerful than I am, no doubt.
I need to be strong emotionally to be the one they would cry on over when they fall, to understand them, when no one else does, and to love them unconditionally.  It doen't matter if they fail on their own, I'll be there to lift them up.
I used to be frail, unforgiving, regretful, and so many things connected to NOT strong, but with the knowledge of God's Divine favor, I acquired the strength in His grace.  It's His grace that I'm still standing, running and finishing the race.

14.  On attaining PEACE of Mind

When God has called you to a purpose, whether your past is broken, there is only one thing that can hinder, YOU.

15.  All the above mentioned may or may not guarantee your HAPPINESS.

HAPPINESS is having peace of mind, comfort in the midst of chaos and triumph from suffering. It's success after hard work.  It's eating the best chocolate cake without feeling guilty, but it should not define who you are.

16. The belief that you could get rich in one day is FAKE NEWS!

One way to get rich is mastering the art of savings.  Don't be ashamed of being frugal or practical.

Live within your limits, and learn to spend with what's left from your savings.

But, then again, you don't need to rich.

If you can actually afford to live like a human being for the rest of your life—even if that living is modest—count yourself very, very fortunate. You do not need to be rich to be happy.

17. Be KIND ALWAYS but...

Know when to draw the line between being a pushover.  Being too nice may give others a wrong connotation, so be mindful.  People will just use you, drain you of your skills, talents and time.
Know your worth and be confident enough to say NO!

18. Please yourself instead of over-pleasing others.

Instead of pleasing to gain approval, simply expect to be treated with respect. Educate yourself to become the best in your field of knowledge so you have a well-developed place of confidence to come from when you communicate.

19. There is joy in giving and sharing.

Remember what Lao Tsu said?

The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own.  Believe this, it's proven.  But of course, when you give, don't expect anything in return.
20. Try to find joy in the smallest of things.

Instead of looking at things negatively, you can change the perspective.  Instead of seeing the single jot on the white paper, why don't you look at the vast white space.

WAG maging sobrang OC.

Dami ko bang sinabi?  Well, if you only focus deeply within you (lalim ba?) you will realize, dami nga pala nating matututunan.

Pwede kang mag-succeed kahit SIMPLE ka lang!

Pero you have to define what success is to you.

  7. I agree with them mommy, you look really young with the age of 42. I hope I'll be like as vibrant as you when I reach that age too. What life taught me at the age of 22 is that there's no age and limit to pursue what you want to achieve in life. Gien Adreal gave me more reasons to be more and do more.
