I'm sure you've heard of this phrase a couple of times, “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get.” Why it's from the movie Forrest Gump! But times have changed since then. Now, customers are spoiled for choice with many different decadent varieties of chocolate to choose from. At the country’s premier lifestyle and entertainment destination, Newport World Resorts, these sweet confectioneries take the spotlight on World Chocolate Day celebrated every 7th of July.
So, you know where to find me on Friday!
Below are some of Newport World Resorts' wonderful spot to get your choice of chocolatey treats. Newport World Resorts was formerly Resorts World Manila, fyi.
Garden Wing Cafe
At the Garden Wing Cafe located at the ground floor of the Newport Garden Wing, the confection counter is full of sweets that are ripe for the picking. The selection of luxe pralines and truffles are made from locally-sourced, home-grown chocolates that support the property’s integrated sustainability initiative, I LOVE Earth. The pretty pieces come in a variety of classically decadent flavors like Dark Rocher, White Rocher, Green Tea, Coffee, and more. For the more adventurous palate, try the Coconut, Pistachio Log Marzipan, or even the Tabasco flavors. Premium chocolate bars made in a variety of ingredients that make each kind interesting and oh-so-addicting are also a popular choice along with the nostalgic giant lollies. The cafe is also popular for its line of fresh-made pastries, the chocolate-dipped doughnuts and eclairs are definite must-trys.
Hotel Okura
The elegant pralines at Hotel Okura Manila are an absolute recommendation. A box of these heavenly creations is one of the best ways to celebrate chocolate day. The dark pralines are made from 68% dark chocolate couverture that lends a bold but well rounded taste to each piece. The milk chocolate pralines invokes a rich and smooth flavor from its high cocoa butter and milk content. The white chocolate pieces are balanced harmonies of milk and natural vanilla that gives the candy its pleasant sweetness with distinct floral tones.
