Wickedly Yummy Honeyed Brownies with Almonds

Choosing to eat healthy is the smart thing to do and the best decision one could ever do to oneself, it's an investment your body can truly count on in the long run.  But it doesn't mean you cart off with your favorite food including sweets and pastries.  It may mean cutting off on eating it, not overindulging and sometimes finding ways to replace harmful ingredients with natural ones is the way to go.

I'm so happy to report you some of my successful experiments in the kitchen and one is tweaking my kids' adored snack of all time, brownies.  My recipe calls for two kinds of sugar, brown sugar and granulated white sugar, and you know what that means, hyperglycemia, high-sugar level worst case scenario (diabetes).

It started when I got a bunch of different-flavored raw honey from Langnese, I do have several recipes here using honey as sugar replacement but this one tops it all.

It still has that same moist and crumbly texture as the one with the white sugar, but ahhh, it's less the guilt.  It's not that cloying and you can even have some more.

Below is the altered Brownie Recipe.

Honeyed Brownies with Almonds

Ingredients:

3/4 cups unsalted buttered (softened)

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup Acacia Honey (Langnese brand) (or any raw honey)

3 eggs

1 cup of flour

3/4 cups cocoa powder

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salted

1/2 cup slivered almonds (optional)

Procedure:

1. Mix the sugar with butter, once mixed thoroughly, dump in the honey, then the eggs.

2. In a separate bowl, mix all the dry ingredients except for the almonds.

3. Mix the dry ingredients to the batter and whisk.

4. Spread the batter on a baking paper lined pan.

5. You may top with almonds or chocolate chips.

5. Put in the oven pre-heated at 350 F and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

Test with a toothpick by poking in the middle, and when it comes out clean, you can remove it from the oven and allow to cool before serving.
