David Gerstein's Artwork at Manila Art 2015

In the recently concluded Manila Art 2015 held at SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, I saw for the first time some creations from David Gerstein.  It was while watching HGTV that piqued my interest in this particular wall décor that's colorful and 3D.  The video was taped from a house in Singapore that's being featured.  I knew instantly that it would come from a top caliber artist but I could never get a hold of this artists' name.

Much to  my delight, I saw the same artwork (probably not the same one) or somewhat coming from the same design when I went to Manila Art 2015.  Seeing them made me heedless of the other artworks around me, the alley carrying art forms was like a magnet that just  drew me from other more interesting art pieces.

Above is a photo of one of his metal sculpture, that's not layered but full of drama and spontaneity.  I would definitely wanted to have one for my parents' new home, but it was already sold, just that day, I only missed a couple of minutes.  It was, btw, 2,000 US dollars.

Who is David Gerstein as an artist?

He is an internationally renowned artist who was born in Jerusalem.  This Israeli contemporary artist creates universal, colorful and layered imagery of still-life compositions, urban landscapes and human activity.  He focuses on indoor metal wall sculptures formed as multi-layered cut-outs, outdoor.  He also does outdoor works, paintings and sculptures.

Gerstein's have huge artworks that adorn cities in many countries, making parks, museums and other spaces pop with color and magic.

His art is about good-hearted objects that convey a certain irony and humor, which grows more and more convoluted and yet for him, at least, remains simple and innocent, as it was during his childhood in the 50's.

The people on the space for Bruno Art Group were very accommodating and they were the ones who introduced me to this artist.  Wait, before you belt it, he's not here in Manila, he's based in Israel but Bruno Art Group made it possible to bring his artworks here.  Also, Bruno Art Group is based in Singapore so if I are interested like me to see their collection, you can check their website or go directly to www.davidgerstein.com for more of David Gerstein's works.
